Default 2nd Gen: Anyone fitted 215/75/R15's?

Hi Everyone,

I've spent a long time searching the forum but struggling to find particular answers for a 2nd Gen (plenty of answers for the 1st Gen!).

After searching on the net in general for tyre sizes that would fit, I arrived at the conclusion that 215/75/R15's would fit a 2nd Gen. However, when they arrived this morning (Falken Wildpeak A/T 215/75/R15) and 'eye-balling' them before having them fitted, they look too big.

Is there anyone who could share their experience of this tyre size on a 2nd Gen? Most importantly, do they fit without rubbing? They look really tall but does the hight 'compress'/lower when fitted?

Any opinions greatly received, thank you for your help,

I thought Gen 2's had more space so I dont think that should be a problem

Hi Freefallin99,

Thanks for taking the time to reply but it'd be cool if I could find someone who has some experience with this size tyre..

Size: 1.68 MBGot mine on today. Love em!! No rubbing, even on the Gen1 and I know the Gen2 has more room, so you would be just fine running this size.

Hahahahaah, can't stop smiling. What great pictures, thank you for taking the time to do that, that looks really cool and I'm sure many others will appreciate the pictures.

Can you tell me Free, how are you aware that the 2nd Gen has more room? When I put the new tyre up against the current one to 'eyeball' the fit, in the front arch it looks like the suspension will rub the tyre. Does the tyre 'sit' lower when fitted?

Maybe I should just have 1 fitted and 'just see'? That way I've only lost €70 if not and I can send the other 3 back to the depot..

Thanks again, your time is much appreciated,

Staffs Lebowski..

A simple search of "Gen2 CRV TIre Size", or something similar to that, yields several great threads on this exact topic. Have a look!

Gen 2 CRV Largest Tyre Suggestions?

Will 225/70/16 tires fit on 2nd Gen crv?

Good luck and be sure to post of pics! I nearly went 225/70r15 for my Grabbter AT2's. as I prefer the slightly wider "baja" look, but they were several days out and the 215's were only 1 day out so I opted for those. I would actually recommend you go bigger honestly!

I don't think it's about having enough room, it's about how much you're going to degrade handling. Unless you never go on the hiway.

Degrade handling? If I remember correctly, std. Gen2 fitment from the factory is 215/65/16. According to a commonly used tire size calculator from the almighty internet, 215/75/15 would be .7" taller than the stock size, so I can hardly imagine the slightly taller size would "degrade" handling. However, if you have compelling evidence that degradation is the case, and to what extent, please let us know!
