Zex Cam Performance in y8
I just got my zex 105300 installed with cam gear in my y8, and even though the car runs really well in higher rpm's, i think i lost power on the lower end. The car feels kinda sluggish until 3000, then it picks up real quick. I was wondering if that's what I should've expected. I'm happy for the most part, but should I try and have it tuned some more, or dynoed? Anybody got their dynos with N/A cars, cam gear and zex cam installed?
Oh, and also, my check engine light is on... finally showing some signs of me messing with it

Re: Zex Cam Performance in y8 (crazy_ham)
It's too be expected. The cam is made to run perfectly at a specific rpm (2 specific rpm's in the case of a VTEC motor), and the further away from that point you get the more bogged it will be. The Zex cam I'm sure is meant to peak at a higher RPM than the stock Y8 cam, therefore you'll lose more power in the lower rpm. If you have an adjustable cam gear, and a VAFC, Hondata or similar, you can adjust the VTEC point and timing of the cam to smooth the transition from the base set of lobes to the vtec lobes which can help bring back a little more power before VTEC engages. This is of course something to do on a dyno, and not just guessing and driving around.
Zex probably has recommended settings for their cam, as far as timing and VTEC engagement point. You may check for documentation from them.

Re: Zex Cam Performance in y8 (RyanCivic2000)
hmm which cam did you get? I'm thinking of getting on for my y8 mini-me.
I already have an AEM adjustable cam gear.
