ZC pistons on B7 block
Hello all, done some research so I have that it can, and cannot be done.
Smoking oil badly so I know I need new rings, so I might as well get new pistons as well.
Z6 head with B7 block. Will ZC pistons work with that setup. Everything is stock, and i will keep the rods from the B7.
Also with the ZC change compression or will I not notice a thing..

Re: ZC pistons on B7 block
So are we talking about major detonation, can I just swap em in, or is there anything I need to do to keep my car from exploding and handling that compression

Re: ZC pistons on B7 block
the pistons are stamped PM7 on the top...and they are the highest domed piston you can get from OE. i ran them in my y8 until the vtec solenoid froze open starving the block of oil and i melted them....i've been trying to locate some but to no avail. if anyone knows where i can locate some (minus junk yards, no decent yards up here) i would appreciate it....but back on topic, my CR was 12.5 to 1 and it ran like a raped ape. go for it and let us know how it turns out.

Re: ZC pistons on B7 block
i ran the rods that came with the pistons and a y8 head, never had any problems, some slight pinging at about 6500, (running 94 octane, highest i could find) but no internal problems, no piston slap or anything of that sort. you should be ok.

if you go with ZC pistons you HAVE to get it tuned...
i had a z6 that i put 75.5mm zc pistons in. it had a "gas knock" (detonation). get some bigger injectors and get er tuned.
