z6 overheating... suggestions
Before I replace my motor?
So, looking for answers before I replace my stock z6.
It's overheating again when I drive it about 30 miles.
It's good at cold start, but terrible once I start it when it's sitting out in the sun for a while or if I drove it
around for a while and tried to restart.
I know when it's about to overheat, it's when the car gets sluggish. The motor takes so long at times to reach past 65 mph on the freeway.
My gasket has blown before and that was a year ago, after that my car ran like a champ until this year.
Not sure if it's a blown headgasket again, the only same symptom I see is overheating. No yucky coolant smell. No smoke blowing out of the tail pipe. And it likes to toggle around with the cold/hot meter. I checked my hoses, but they're fine.
The first coolant level to go is the overflow tank, then the radiator, but it takes very long for radiator coolant loss which is confusing to me because when my car had it's blown headgasket. My car overheated quickly and I had excessive coolant loss. And now it only take my overflow tank to have coolant loss to overheat whereas my radiator is fine.
my thermostat should be fine as well.
I'm stumped.

Check carefully for any coolant leaks, replace the radiator cap, and bleed the cooling system. Then go from there.
----------------------------------------------
Bleeding the cooling system:
(may take 20-30 min)
1) Park the car on an inclined driveway with the front end higher than the rear.
2) Push the dash heater lever/**** to MAX heat.
3) Follow the directions in the diagram below (hint: the bleed bolt is located where the upper radiator hose connects to the engine):
