The y7 and y8 blocks are prone to oil pump failure. You need to swap out an oil pan and oil pump from a d16a6 or d16z6

Then I dont see why you couldnt run a z6 throttle body, it should be fine since youre using the matching intake manifold.

I was just wondering about the various sensors that are different than my y7 throttle body.......do you know of any write ups on putting a z6 head on a y7 block?........I searched but i couldn't find a specific write up........

as far as tb and injectors if u use stock y7 ecu u gotta use the y7 tb and injectors, timing belt its the same for y8 and z6 and y7, now as long as u use the z6 cam gear on the head setting valve timing should be the same as normal, but from what i know z6 ig nition timing is 12 degrees y8/7 are 16 degrees i think i have not gotten a look at parts to confirm this myself. maybe someone else can tell you more on inginiton timing

and typically u should use the distributor that matches the head, in this case z6 just swith the wiring to work with 0bd2 harness thats just the rule of thumb ive heard a y7 distrib might work

thanks for the input.........i have the z6 dizzy and thats what i will be using.........i just dont think that y7 injectors provide enough fuel.........so my question stands: should i use y8 injectors?........can i use the y8 injectors on my y7 fuel rail?.....

if youre going to use the y8 intake manifold, use its corresponding parts (fuel rail, injectors, TB) because it will just make it that much easier for you.

after i thought about it i realized u have to change the ecu the only reason i was saying before to use y7 injectors was if you used a y7 ecu but when i stopped and thunk i realize that wouldnt work your going for vtec, and with a y8 ecu with is what i assume you will use you will need a knock sensor

well, that is one of the questions i have..........if i wire the vtec solenoid to run off a msd activated switch then i could keep my ecu, but will the y8 injectors function ok with a y7 ecu?
