your opinions on a dual exhaust set up
alright, the car is a 94 del sol VTEC DOHC model and dual exhaust is getting put on it... i've asked around and have gotten different answers but here's my questions, tell me what you think..
The dual exhaust is going to be done the right way, its gonna look like a "Y" under the car, now the question is, what size should the pipes be when they split off?
okay.. here's a drawing on what i was told would be the best set up..
\ / <-- 2 inch pipes
| <---2 inch
| <--- (this is the stock "resignator ??" that the shop is going to leave on)
| <-- 2.5 inch piping
| <--- the cat
also, should i get 4-2-1 headers right away? and remember, i'm trying to stay away from loosing tq....
Thanks guys!

Im not sure, but 2 inch piping split 2 ways might make you lose alot of backpressure or whatever, and if you leave the resonator on its gonna sound muffled and weird.

it is not functional, so i and most people on this board are not going to give u a positive response on it. just get a nice SINGLE pipe exhaust for your honda which has a SINGLE exhaust manifold.

the san diego show hin? there were like 3 'aem' civics with dual exhaust flying down the freeway.. didnt know if they were really duals.. and at the subaru dealer in irvine there was a dual exhaust celica with like the gay flames and ps2 and bs.. looked nice.. hehe also looked like a waste of power/money

you will not be looking at any performance gains and if u do it would be very minimal.......companies like Apex'i, Tanabe, 5zigen, spoon, and Jun..they create exhaust systems that put out optimal power gains...if it were possible with dual exhausts to make optimal power..don't you think they would have tried to accomplish it by now? My 2 cents...dual exhaust is just for show purposes..its different...do what you want to do....don't worry about the criticisms that you get on this board..there are many ****** on this board that believe its their way or the high way...no offense everybody...and i am sided on their opinions that dual exhaust is rice and not worth it..but if you want to do it...its ur car....you do things to make yourself happy..not what other people think...keep it up bro

if its a show car, I think they just look funny.
if its for performance, you're better off just going with a single exhaust,
If you just like how dual exhausts look on a civic, then just do it and who cares if its done right because you're not doing it for power gains anyways.

cept for the nice twin tips coming out the rear of the car..i dont think anything any improvement on performance will be realized..matter of fact u might feel embarassed at stop lites when someone rev s on u..its this twin exhaust is a must..then put a couple of N1 s on and put the tips in to restrict the flow a bit to keep ur torque ..my 2 cents *what the *** i know*

Re: your opinions on a dual exhaust set up (gamby)
first of all, i'd like to thank you all for the HELP *rollseyes*
i asked a question for one reason, and that was to get an answer.
IF you even read my post you would of read where it says
"and remember, i'm trying to stay away from loosing tq.... "
I KNOW that dual exhaust will not give me a power increase on the low end and i wasn't looking for that. WHAT i was looking for was to the best way to stay away from loosing the MOST power.
like Sohc Driver said, its my car, do what i like. and i will.
