man alive, you're going to need a flame suit with requests like these. i would say that neon lights, tint, and spoilers are not the basic stuff, unless you're trying to build a spacecraft or a time machine. if so, i would highly recommend a flux capacitor and led washer nozzles. maybe even a fake gold cell phone antenna. straight pipe means no muffler. i would hope your muffler would be tight, so it doens't fall off. a cam gear only shifts your powerband on a sohc, it doesn't make power. and a 4-2-1 header make better mid range power, where as a 4-1 makes more top end power. i would also recomend as many decals you can fit on your car. their slick surfaces should help lower your drag coeffiecent significantly.

key words.. good advice.
Okay. Fine. You want good advice?

Tear your spoiler, tints, interior neons, air horn...all your basic **** off your poor abused car.

THEN, sell it to some other loser riceboy. If you get $20 for it all, consider yourself personally blessed by God hisself.

Then, make sure your car is a stick shift. If it isn't, sell it, and buy a car that is a stick.

If it already is a stick, then this is the order you do modifications in:

Wheels/Tires (no bigger than 17's, lighter and wider is better)
Suspension (shocks, not just springs.)
Powertrain (bolt ons, forced induction, swap, whatever you want)

Then, once you've got the performance to back up an image, you may add some simple and clean aesthetic mods.

Note: TRY NOT TO BE A ****** WHEN RESPONDING. Seems kinda tough as you'll notice below.
The moral of this thread:

Ask a ******y question, get a ******y answer.

You already have the intake. Get a 4-1 header, Catback just to start. Buy Zer0DazE's CTR lip. IMO I would get like gunmetal wheels for a black car. Dont get the altezzas, neon, system (maybe just a nice headunit), spoiler. Light tint later on. Dont get wheels until you can afford to lower the car.

just my .02

Good luck.

Sell your neon lights and your d16 and buy a b18c5. Don't get altezzas, they are really ugly. Don't get g2's, get some CTR black housings. Don't buy white wheels, get some 16" bronze or gunmetal wheels. Make sure they're light. check here http://www.wheelmax.com. Look at RH, 5zigen, or Ray's(Volk). They make light wheels. Please don't get no-name brand wheels because they are cheaper. They are usually heavier and not as strong. Don't get USDM DC. Get a SS header made by Comptech, Apex-i, Honda (JDM), or the DC JDM 4-1 (These headers will only work with a B-series motor. If you're going to stick with your SOHC, then just get the DC. I suggest the 4-1 for more top-end power). You can look here for the Great Header test: http://www.automotiveperformanceengi...om/header.html. If you want a quiet exhaust that sounds smooth, get the Mugen Twin loop ($$$$), Apex-i WS, Tanabe Hyper Medallion, ES Oval, or a Greddy EVO. If you don't want a motor swap, get the DC Stainless header, choose your exhaust from the above list, and stick with that AEM CAI. Do you have a suspension? NO? If you're never going to touch a road course, get some Koni yellows and GC sleeves. This setup will run you about $800. It is one of the most highly recommended setups for street use. Then get a Comptech rear stabilizer/tie bar combo. This will give you some more oversteer and prevent your subframe from tearing. I'm not sure if your EX comes with a front stabilizer bar, but if it doesn't, get a 26mm one from a 99-00 Si. Next are some strut bars. Cusco, Carbing, JIC, Spoon, Mugen make good ones. Don't get eBay or DC or anything with holes in it. Stiffer=better. This will tighten up your chassis and give you better steering response in the front. Systems=more weight=bad. If you want concert sound, go to a concert. Your car is for driving fast!!! OH yeah don't forget to strip your interior and take out all the passenger seats (J/K!). This will make you faster. Now with all that new found power, don't forget to wear your seatbelt every time you drive.

DISCLAIMER: After you've spent $300 for a header, $500 for an exhaust, $200 for an intake, $1600 for suspension, and $1000 for wheels, dont expect to lower your 1/4 mile times significantly. I would expect maybe 15 peak whp. I'm not sure how D16's react to mods because I have an B16 (00 Si), but you can only make your car so fast. But it will be more fun to drive. I suggest you try road racing (http://www.speedtrialusa.com). It is a lot more fun than drag racing. Oh yeah...You should buy the CTR Lip. It makes the front-end look a lot better.

i have given this much thought, and although this is THE PERFECT opportunity to rip someone a new one, i will make real suggestions.

1) get rid of the neon, seriously
2) if you have air horns, never honk your horn.
3) the intake is a good step.
4) put your 500 dollars towards tokico hps and ground controls.
5) next time you get money, put on headers and a nice exhaust. ie: apex,
greddy, tanabe, comptech.
6) when you get wheels, don't get white. stay with silver bronze or gunmetal.
trust me.

by all means, don't think you're crazy hot **** when you roll around, there will ALWAYS be someone faster than you...always.
good luck.

Ditch all those misconceptions you have about what your car should look like and think realistically.

Ex:Function over form is the key element(particularly on this "tech" site). Separate youself from the crowd by not buying the cheap cosmetic mods and focus on making a car perform better than it's expected to.

The last thing you want is people to expect your car moves. Because the only movement it'll have is on the bed of a tow truck on it's way to get stripped. Don't be flashy, don't show-off, keep it simple and earn your respect via backing up your word by performance.

All that **** the little rice shops sell is garbage.
I would just hold off on doing anything untill your budget allows for dropping 3-4k, then once you have the $$$, come ask this question again...

I think as far as performance modifications, this is a great place to learn stuff. But if you want opinions on looks, people are really picky.

I say do whatever the hell you want, don't ask people what color you should get this or that or which altezzas to get.. buy what you feel will look nice to you. just don't do anything stupid that can lower performance, like a giant wing or somthing.. If you personally want to have Spoon wheels painted pink then buy em if they make you happy. Just don't expect not to get laughed at.. and you will get laughed at with altezzas by most people. but as far as tint, stereo etc. i don't see how anybody can bash you for having those upgrades. Not everybody is just trying to turn there car into an all out race car.
