Yet another noob...
Howdy Folks.
Well, being new to this board I spent some time just cruising it to learn something about who lives here. Admittedly I have found some great people and would like to be more of a part of it then just dropping a comment here and there. So I thought I would introduce myself and give y'all a little history of how I came to discover the joy of hybrids...
Back in 95 I picked up a 1993 CX in Metairie LA. Just what I wanted too, could put 4 real adults in it, a cooler, and it got good gas milage. Even had an overdrive button, just turn off the AC. Well that little 70 hp motor finally gave it up in 1999 and I went thru the motions of getting a new car when I went with a buddy of mine dragged me to Sonic Boom Motorsports. 8 months and $8500 later I was the proud owner of a hybrid Honda I knew almost nothing about (YES, i did a motor swap on a whim and faith, stupid I know...) So, being the compter geek I am, I started getting manuals and books on the Acura Integra and Honda Civic and learned all I could so I can do more of the work myself. I also found some great resources on the internet and everyone I have met so far has been really supportive. Now I have no problems with getting under the hood, installing new goodies, and basically driving my car as hard as I can. Even though I consider myself still very green about import tuning/performance, the one thing I can say is its not as difficult as I thought it would be. Since moving up to Ohio a few years ago I have pretty much had to put any new modifications on hold, with starting a new job (I work at Progressive Insurance, go figure...) and all, I just haven't been able to make the time or money. But I miss the import scene (even the ricers somedays) and joining this board is the biggest step I have taken so far in trying to rejoin the community.
In the future I have plans to get some extended schooling for driving auto cross and eventually would like to try my hand at racing my little go-buggy. But that still a year or so away...
Peace and
madwilliam
ps I will try to post some pics of my car soon...

I would definitely reccomend you try autox. There's nothing like getting together with a bunch of other car geeks in a parking lot on Sat. morning kicking the **** out of some traffic cones . You might want to check out the Sports Car Club of America's website- http://www.scca.com I'm sure you could find a link to a local chapter that holds autox events in your area. It's usually pretty cheap, too; around $10 or so. Once again, welcome to H-T. Hope you have fun & learn a lot here. I know I have!
