y8 intake mani swap problems
i have asked on many boards on how to swap a y8 intake mani on a d15b7 and everyone is like it just pops on... easy **** huh. so i was going to do a write up on my site on how to do a y8 mani swap and take pics but my batteries died in my digi but here is other problems i ran in to.
1st problem there is a sensor plug on the bottom of my dx mani that is not any where on the y8. anyone know what to do with it?
2nd there is three coolent lines on the 1st runner on my dx mani... a larger one and two little ones but on my y8 mani there is one little one and one big one so do i need to use a Y spilter on it?
3rd and the biggest problem is that the damn mani could not go all the way back on head due to three notches on the rim of the head from where the valve cover meets it. the out side notches should be easy to grind in to the mani so it would fit on the head but the middle one has line out coolent or someting i dont know what it is there. so grinding a notch in it might affect it so i thought about grinding the notch off the head so dont have to mess with that line out on the mani. i dont know what to do
has anyone done this swap?

Where the yellow arrow is, that was probably your air temp sensor. That's where the Z6 engine has the air temp sensor also. Relocate it to the intake pipe.
Since you have a 99-00 civic manifold, you must plug the small hole from the flange that feed to the fuel injectors, otherwise you will have a vacuum leak and it wont idle right.
You also have to trim/grind the top part of the flange for clearance with the valve cover.
Not sure about the coolant lines.

i think you are looking for a cruise control port

my y8 has a plug their and i used it for the pot valve . thats the little cylinder looking thing usualy close to the map sensor. its uses vacum lines and has an electrical plug.
also as stated before u have to plug the holes in the front of the manifold
just use JB weld and make sure u wipe it flush so the manifold seals up good.

Re: y8 intake mani swap problems (cxjon)
hey i have a 97 dx and i went to swap a y8 mani and gsr tb on my car and i ran into many of problems. First of all the gsr tb wouldnt work i dont know why so i put my stock y7 back and and still kept the y8 mani on. On the y7 tb it has a rotary plug and 3 wires (posative, negative, and feedback) and on the y8 it has 2 wires and it doesnt have a rotary plug. So i spliced into the y7 tb and put a plug on it so it would fit the y8 manifold so i hooked up the wires but i still had 1 extra wire left over. I figured what the hell ill just start it up and see what happens. It didnt start and now i think i shorted out my computer. But all my lines and everything were all there i just had problems with the wireing....goodluck with the swap i hope you dont have the same problems i did
