Default y7 harness y5 motor

i have a d16y5 motor and p2p ecu with a d16y7 harness. my question is; is the reason my car wont pass 3500 rpm in any gear because i have a y7(non-vtec) harness with a vtec motor and ecu? just want to make sure im seeing this situation right

You have to have all the VTEC-E parts to make a HX package run properly. You can't swap them with other models. The P2P is the wrong ECU for the D16Y5, it is for a regular VTEC engine not VTEC-E.

With that said, you might want to check your cam timing, not revving over 3500 is often because of that. It might then run a little better but still will not be right.
