WTF!! Oil light is on and wont come off in my sol!!
Well here is the thing...I finished installing my turbo kit on my del sol last week... i used a Oil adapter sandwich plate to run my lines off of it.... well after installing everything i turned on the car and my oil light was on... i got scared and shut the car off... after that i checked the oil level and was perfect... soo started the car again and still on... drove it around for about 1 hour and still on but motor runs fine... i dont know wtf is going on? lol... anyone know of this problem? please let me know thanks!

I'm not 100% sure if it's even possible, but I know that the oil pressure sensor is in the vicinity of the oil filter... is it possible that you bumped a wire harness or the like loose on the sensor?

Re: WTF!! Oil light is on and wont come off in my sol!!
there are only a few reasons why the light could be on.
1. your oil pressure is below 5psi (seems like you have ruled this out though)
2. you unscrewed the sensor from the block but left it plugged in
3. there is something wrong with the wiring, check for a loose, broken or grounded wire.
im guessing #3 is your best bet. as someone else mentioned you may have knocked something loose while installing the oil filter adapter. the pressure sensor is just to the left of the filter.
also you can try unplugging the sensor all together, the light should go off. if not then the wire is probably grounding out somewhere.

I wouldn't have ran the car with the light on, just in case. Maybe there is a kink in the line going to the turbo, or a seal might be blocking the line.
I would check all your lines, and throw a pressure gauge on there if you can, just to be safe.

wow man, you started the car without a wideband? You drove the car untuned? you broke the cardinal sin of running the engine with oil pressure light on?

It's fine if you say so. Me and my whole shop is laughing with that one. I'll be sure to pass this on to my associates over at Laskey Racing and Blue Print Racing, they'll get a kick out of that too.

Re: WTF!! Oil light is on and wont come off in my sol!!
My GE sandwich plate was a PITA, and every time I changed my oil I had to unplug my dizzy and crank it over till I got oil pressure. i suggest you do the same, crank it a few times then plug everything back up and start it up....if you have pressure, and no other problems (like a faulty sensor or something) then the light should go away.
the honda oil light is a notification of oil pressure being low, not oil levels. since you dont have a gauge, you could remove the oil line that feeds the turbo and have someone crank over the car a few times (with dizzy unplugged) and see if oil comes out.
I'm not doubting your knowledge of forced induction, but this is one of THE first steps to initial startup on newly boosted cars....priming oil for the turbo so that it doesnt starve on initial startup, and blow out seals.
Anyway, good luck.

So if you think the sensor was bumped why don't you just check it? lol.
Is the car not with you?

your oil light is for your oil psi, not the level of oil you have in it, check your lines etc for any loos ends..

OP, I was also thinking...Did you have the oil pan off during the turbo install? If so make sure the pick-up isnt being blocked or clogged or the the pickup tube gasket isnt blown out. This of course should be the last/most complicated thing to check

driving your boosted car untuned is not good, u can mess up alot of things, like oil pressure. especially with a cheap kit (not saying you are).

LOL what. What effect does tune have on oil pressure? Race tune gives you 68.999 PSI y0. And what does a cheap kit have to do with anything?

Re: WTF!! Oil light is on and wont come off in my sol!!
yeah thats what im saying??? the tune pretty much includes the right fuel and air mixture soo you dont run lean or rich... as well as going by some of the sensors and what not... but yeah... oil pressure doesnt have to do with any of that... **** if i could then why not tune the car right now and tell the ecu to give it more lubrication lol!

What oil pump do you have? You need to get a oil pressure guage asap. Wouldnt drive that thing til I knew. Go to harbor freight and buy a POS one.

Re: WTF!! Oil light is on and wont come off in my sol!!
as long as you have a basemap, i'm pretty sure driving the car to the tuner is not bad. thats why its called a BASEmap. no, you shouldn't boost the car, but driving normally to the tuner won't hurt it. what if you don't have access to a truck and trailer? a basemap is so you can get your car to the tuner, ya know. i get what you guys are saying, but the op was just asking why his oil light is on, lol.
