Re: (euclid)
30W is straight weight. no detergents. very thick. no winter weight. tranny fluid is very high refined many detergents and good cleaning and can withstand heat very well.

0-30 and straight 30 arnt the same. 0-30 is really thin. straight 30 is thick
new hondas run 5-20. i think they do this just for better gas milage.
hnda trannies actually take regular motor oil . syn. is not required. some people think itll be better to use it but ive actually found gl-s to be the best in the tranny esp cause syncros are always getting fucked.
thats what itr lsd and s2000 require.

ok, some of you guys are saying to use regular motor oil in the tranny and some are saying to use the honda manual tranny fluid. so which one is actually better? can you buy the honda mtf at a store like shucks, or do you have to go to the dealer?

gl-s is synthetic gear oil/sycromesh
or you can use regular synthetic gear oil (itr lsd)
or just reg 75-90 gear oil (honda tranny)
but gl-s is the best

According to Honda, the Honda MTF had special additives and cleaners to help prolong the life of the tranny. I would spend the extra couple of bucks and get what the reccomend. After all they could save money and put standard motor oil in all their trannys from the factory so they must use MTF for a good reason.
But what do I know, i'm running 10w30 in my tranny

Audi sends out many of there turbo cars with Mobil 1 0w-30 from the factory. I know for a fact the S4's use it. I would imagine the Turbo A4's and the TT's use it also. Very thin stuff but it lubes the turbo's up nicely!

Well it will start up quicker because it's a 5w cold, not the thicker 10w.
BUT, they're still a 30 weight when it's warm or at temperature.
to the B7!
