which would you prefer
i know this is a honda site so there might be a slight bias but gonna ask any way ..
which would u prefer as a DAILY driver and sometimes street wariror ..
a 2000 civic si coupe with
Skunk2 Lowering Springs
Spoon Front Strut Bar
OEM Front Sway Bar
OEM Rear Sway Bar
OEM Tie Bar
Energy Suspension Engine Mount Inserts
OEM Si Side Skirts
Polyurethane Rear Lip
2.5" exhaust piping with Magnaflow exhaust
Yellow Fog light kit (BNIB)
Has full interior, brakes, axles etc. Also comes with (4) 16" lightweight rims and 3 tires - 205/45R-16 Maxxis
Port & Polished b16a head
Brian Crower Dual Valve Springs with Brian Crower Titanium Retainers
Supertech Valve Seals (intake & exhaust) BNIB
Skunk 2 Tuner Stage 2 cams
Buddy Club Rep Cam Gears
Gates Timing Belt (BNIB)
AEM 3" SRI arm (no filter)
'00 ITR Intake Manifold
'00 ITR Throttle Body
Dual Core aluminium radiator (BNIB)
450cc injectors with injector relay
Hytech Rep Tri-Y Header
OEM CTR Pistons with JE Piston Rings
ITR Rods with ARP Rod Bolts
ITR Crank
has slightly used ACL Bearings (main & rod) installed.
ARP Head Studs
Bare '00 ITR Block with Block Guard installed
USDM B16a Gearbox (non-lsd) (97 ITR ratios with 4.4 Final Gear) includes the following parts:
Exedy Stage 1 Clutch
ACT Pressure Plate
11lb Flywheel
or
a pretty stock 2004 Golf Gti limited 2.0T with chipped ecu
stating to put out around 185-190whp
so obvioulsy one is heavily worked or is not .. there is a price difference of course .. but the civic is almost maxed out performance parts wise while the golf has a lot more that can be done to it .. just that the cost are higher ..
so which would u take as your DAILY driver
figured i should add this .. both need spray work
the honda needs a tire
the golf needs a golve box
im in Ja so the prices are higher than yall may expect
honda : 4,900us
golf : 6060us

Re: which would you prefer
this kinda belongs in the thread "$The Value Thread$ What's It Worth? Should I Buy? What's the Cost?"
I think there will be a bias too, and I kinda have a bias lolz, i kinda think most Golf GTIs look goofy unless done JUST right. The EM1 sounds pretty nice, but from the time I've been into Hondas, I've realized that most cars that are built that heavily, have been abused at least a bit, or at least taken to the track a few weekends. That car especially sounds a bit too hard to resist You'd probably have the people in the thread or just in the scene in general that will be like "Bought, not built? Eww you have cooties", but if it's your cup of tea, then go ahead.
The Golf GTI sounds a bit pricey in my opinion, but you're in a location I'm not too familiar with I suppose. If the seller can provide proof that the build was built legitimately and can provide receipts for the parts, and can do compression tests and what not to prove that the car hasn't been abused past the point of return, I'd say the Civic.
EDIT: Also, I see that the list of parts does not include any sort of security on the car. I dont know the auto thefts rates in Jamaica, but just know that these older model civics are quite easy to steal.

oh and the engine is being built as we speak .. so no chance of it getting ragged out b4 i get it ..
car jus needs paint and a new tire
but i guess what im trying to find out is the drive-ability of a a car so heavily modded .. for a daily driver ..
does it make sense to buy a car like this to drive everyday ??

Re: which would you prefer
How about just go test drive them both sine YOU'RE the only one that has to drive it? This question just cannot be answered and TBH this aint a chat room. It's a tech forum.

But this is a tech forum, there are many other sub forums on this site that would be actually be appropriate for your post.
