vtec will still kick without knock i beleive just not as hard as it should..as for ecu, what are you using? And are you sure you have vtec hooked up right, cause if vtec isnt hitting and you hit a rev limiter about 5K, or whatev your ecu is supposed to hit vtec..then i think you have it hooked up wrong, possble having the pressure wire going to the solnoid and the solnoid wire going to the pressure switch..double check your wiring for sure

ok...im an idoit...i didnt see that you are using a EX harness and ecu...so its all plug and play, you didnt have to hardwire in vtec..

VTEC is not like your weiner, its either on or off. If the knock sensor is bad, it'll throw a code or send your car in limp mode, and that means absolutely no VTEC.

vtec will not engage w/o a KS. it is not reliant on that sensor(as far as i know) BUT
W/o a KS, factory timing advance will not increase like it should. the ECU wont let high rpm's happen with no input in knocking noise, almost like a limp mode when a strong knock is heard. Sounds like the KS kiddo. Just my input, not sure about correctness though...

there is no correctness...

if it throws a code for knock vtec will NOT work.

Actually my knock sensor isn't wired up on my eg6 b16a with a p30 ecu, check engine light comes on and i checked it today and it's the knock sensor, code 23. YET vtec still works, no it's not wired to a switch, it's wired to the ECU!!

Anyways where the hell is the knock sensor so i can go wire mine up??

Its the knock sensor, always has been.
VTEC will not work without it unless it is OBD1, or the ECU is chipped to not read it.

DAM PEOPLE! It isnt hard.

vtec won kick without knock sensor on a obd2 ecu and it wont rev past vtec engagement point (*sometimes*)
