Working on Brakes, need opinions
Hey guys
Well, it's time to do some brake work on the car. I was just contemplating on what I should do. Should I just change the pads and fluids, or should I go ahead and change the rotors out with it. I'm thinking of upgrading the whole system, because if things go right for me, I should be pushing towards 200whp and will need more stopping power.
So, which brake upgrade kits do you guys recomend? Something not too expensive, but good quality! Any yhelp on this would be great

Yeah, keep your stock brakes (10.3" right?) and just get some good pads and maybe fluid (if you plan to hit the track). Pads will make a world of difference.

Yea, you guys could be right, but more stopping power is always a good thing, right?
What pads do you think I should upgrade to. I don't want to have to keep switching pads after every track event, something for the street is what I want. Again, any help on would be great

You're only going to need more stopping power if you're going to "track" the car. Otherwise, it's only for looks(nothing wrong with that either-but money could be spent elsewhere). http://www.fastbrakes.com Brian is the man.

front ITR rotor/caliper setup would be a big improvement on your (heavy) car.
I did that on my Integra gsr sedan and it felt better and the good brake feel lasted longer on trackdays than the oem setup.
you can rock the ITR setup super cheap too if you stay with oem brembo blanks and oem ITR used calipers....
email Brian at fastbrakes he can help ya out--> fastbrake@hotmail.com

I would purge the whole system of the old fluid. Brake fluid is designed to trap moisture, moisture that would destroy the hydrualic system if the fluid didn't absorb it. Over time, it get saturated and needs to be replaced. A lot of people warned me to only use stock fluid to preserve the MC seals, but there's a lot of people here using better fluid without problems. Having Speedbleeders made this a much easier task.
Do some research on pads. My only suggestion would be to stick with companies that manufacture pads, not just buy generic ones and relabel them. Performance Friction, Hawk, EBC just to name a few. I've got EBC Green Stuff, great for the Street.
You might also think about replacing your stock rubber lines with some braided stainless ones. If you need calipers too, I highly recommend Brembo OEM replacements for street use.
