Won't start...Out of ideas.
This is a new swap, trying to start it up for the first time.
Car won't crank. Fuel pump is priming, but the starter just clicks.
Brand new battery cables, using a working starter (tested it), using a working, fully charged battery (tested it), tried using a new battery, all ends up in the same result.
The fuel pump will prime, but when I crank it all the way over, just a click from the starter. I tried 3 different starters, all of them work when on a bench tester.
I tested the starter solenoid lead, and it's getting 12v when the ignition switch is being turned.
I'm out of ideas. The exact same starter works in another car using the same battery I'm using in my car! But in my car it just clicks!
I tried jumping the starter manually to the battery, and it still just clicks!
All the cables are new, they are all tightened down. One going from (+) on battery to the starter, and one going from (+) to the fusebox.
I have one ground cable going from the (-) straight to the chasis, and freshly cleaned to make good contact.
Should I have another ground in the system somewhere? This is the only thing I can think of that may be the problem, but it seems to me to be highly unlikely as I have a very nice ground already (2 gauge, and freshly cleaned contact on body)
Anybody have any ideas? I messed with this for 5 hours today and got nowhere except very frustrated!
