won't go into gear when engine is on
d16z6 with matching ex trans. exedy stage 1 clutch kit.
changed slave cylinder cause it was leaking, but that doesn't seem to have fixed the problem. the clutch isn't disengaging, i can put it need gear when the car is off and as soon as i try to start it the car moves. the pedal doesn't real as "hard" as it used to and the fork doesn't seem to be moving all the way. so what could it be? master cylinder?

did you bleed the clutch sys when you replaced the slave? while bleeding if fluid pressure weak, master cylinder may be bad

same with the throw out bearing. If it doesn't sit on the pressure plate correct, the same thing will happen. Pull the trans off and check it all out.

Had this same exact problem. One of the bolts for the pressure plate backed out a little bit, causing it to bind up. I can pretty much guarantee you have the same issue seeing as you put a new clutch in.

a year ago i put in a new clutch, i don't think that is what happened. i'm going to change the master cylinder tomorrow and if that doesn't work i'll look into more serious issues that you all have stated. thanks for the help, keep it coming!

ok so i've changed the master cylinder and slave cylinder and that didn't work. but the pedal still doesn't feel like it used to. its not stiff like it was before, would anything internal like what everyone has mentioned above cause this. or is what could it be. i'm going to bleed it again tomorrow to double check but if that doesn't work then i guess i have to pull the motor

I would have someone look at the point where the slave cylinder pushes on the fork while you push in the clutch. If it is moving the fork when you push the clutch in, you know the problem is somewhere past that point and you have to drop the trans.
