Default wire harness for b18c type r swap

im swapping a 96-97 b18c type r into my 98 ek hatch, but im curious about what kinda wire harnesses you b18c itr guys are running on your swaps. i've had people recommend the civic ex harness. please help me out!!

u can use ur stock harness with vtec. if u had vtec to begin with. i just used a 98 obd2 harness from a hatch for mine cause i have a 98 spec.

yea the wire harness in my ek is a y7, so no vtec. so a civic ex will plug in just fine? is it possible to use the harness that came with the the itr swap?

well the harness that came with it is for right hand drive not left hand so it wont work. my 98 vtec harness fit in my 95 coupe with no probelm. but i dont remember if i did ne wiring.

what state are you located in? i know in Ca the swap has to be from the same year or newer than the car its going in....i have a 99 civic and i had to put a 00 spec itr in.

it looks like the 96-98 ex wire harness is a plug-n-play application.

does it matter if it's a manual or auto?

no but you will have some extra wires and have to perform a wiring "trick" which is not very difficult

extra wires and tricks aside, a 96-98 automatic ex harness WILL work just as good as the 5-speed harness for this application?

96-98 EX manual trans harness is all I used and worked like a charm plug and play! Not to mention much cleaner!
