will this work?
will this setup work on my EK hatch?
4-2-1 two piece stainless steel header
catalyctic converter resonator
apex'i n1 universal muffler
...please let me know of anything else i would need to complete this exhaust system. i already have the apex'i n1 muffler, planning on getting DC sports header, a catalyctic/resonator and custom piping from my homies exhaust shop. wondering if this would work. i'm too poor to pay for a whole new catback system, plus i already own the apex'i n1 muffler from last christmas :]

Get a resonator dude....the longest one you can find...that N1 will be loud/raspy as ****. Resonator will help alot. Just that that catyalatic converter that act like a resonator won't be enough.

i bought that same "cat" off ebay a long time ago and it is ****. It is more of a resonator thatn anything else. its a straight thru perforated design, unlike a cat which has special elements inside of it to catalyze the break down of carbon monoxide. i would advise against that thing, and get a carsound or catco highflow cat, that will actually work instead of causing a cel.

yeah, those "converters" like on Ebay aren't converters at all and will not pass emissions tests and do very little to keep noise down either. I managed to find a brand new Catco converter for $50 on Ebay, so they are out there.
The plan is good though, if you are having your friend make new piping you won't have any problem fitting it all in there.

i've found a few of those catco catalytic convertors on ebay for dirt cheap...
dc sports 4-2-1 header
catco high flow catalytic convertor
apex'i N1 cannister
custom piping
sound good to go? ...also what's the default size piping for EK's? thanks for all your help guys!

Most people suggest 2.25 for non turbo'd cars.

Not out of the question, but you realistically have to look at long term goals. If you plan on staying mildly stock then 2.5" is definately overkill.
And regarding the resonator comment above, definately get the biggest damn one you can find.
