Default Will raising my compression do anything for me right now?

I've got a B18C1 in my 93 Civic with intake, header, and exhaust and I have messed up rings so I just bought some JDM Integra Type-R Pistons and rings. Online I read it's going to raise my compression to 11:1. Will this yeild any gains right now? I'm going to be getting my valve train upgraded soon but just wondering.

Thanks

It should raise HP a bit, as well as the possibility of detonation... at the least, which you probably already are, use premium gas.

Thanks, yeah I use premium gas. In cali we only have 91. I'm going to go skunk2 stage 2 cams with upgraded valves, springs and retainers and run hondata so I can get it tuned pretty soon.

From what I hear, get the new springs/retainers but save your OEM valves as long as they are in good shape, unless you're gettin' oversized or something, but I think Skunk2 doesn't say to run oversized valves with their cams.

If your going to raise your compression I would go a little higher than 11.1:1. I would go to 12-12.5:1 if you have the money to have it tuned if not your could go as high as 11.5:1 untuned. I ran 11.5:1 untuned for over six months without any detonation.

I believe its around 11.2.

It would be cheaper to go with pr3 or p30 pistons and they will yield a higher compression. P30 will give you 11.5 and pr3 around 11.3. If you want to go higher go with ctr(pct) pistons, they will give you around 12.5. Btw, here is a compression calculator. http://www.bojangs.com/calculator/

yeah i would just throw in some b16 pistons to give you an 11.5:1 compression ratio. that ratio will be a little better to use with your skunk2 stage2 cams when you get them. they are also way cheaper then itr's.

definatly get a vafc so that you can manage the higher compression correctly without the possibility of detonation.

i wouldnt go any higher than 12:1 on pump gas...thats just asking for trouble unless its tuned perfectly.
