Will 99-00 oem cd player fit in 97 ??
I already posted it in the audio section, but didnt really get the answer to my question.
I want to kno if a 99-00 oem civic cd player will fit PERFECTLY in the 96-98 civics. Will I need an installation kit or any modifications?
thanks

it will fit. the 99-00 mounts using the side holes and the 98 down uses the rear mounting holes.
there is a small metal piece that the 98 down have on the back of the radio that you will need though. you might be able to take it off your stock radio and reuse it.
so it will work, but you will have to mess with the wiring. you need to get the pig tail from honda that plugs into your 99-00 radio. then go to audio store and get an adapter harness for your car. it will be 2 pigtails in the adapter harness. now cut it in half but keep the one that will plug into your cars harness. now both the pieces you kept should have labels saying what they do ie. RF,LF,RR,LR speaker. now just splice them together and your good to go.
so what you now have is a harness from honda that plugs into the 99-00 radio with the other end that you got from an adapter harness that plugs into your cars harness.
it will work trust me. my friend has a 01 civic radio in his 93si and that is what he had to do.

If you got power windows/locks, the modules are tapped into the stock radio, so if you upgrade your radio, you need to keep your stock one in the vehicle some how.
