Default Will a 98 Civic Engine fit into a 95 Civic EX?

Hello everyone. I've tried searching for the info I've posted, but haven't had any luck so far. My friend has a 1995 Civic EX and recently got ahold of a 1998 Civic engine and tranny (not sure of engine code, but I think it's a D16 Single Cam). She wants to put the newer engine into the older car for her son.

Neither of us is really familiar with the engines in the Civic so please pardon our ignorance. We've been told that then engine will fit by some people while others tell us that the wiring is different and wont fit. Any info, links or leads will be appreciated.

Also, don't worry about us doing the swap if they are compatible since as you can tell we are mechanically challenged. She has someone who can do the work, but they are out of town and so far attempts to reach them have been unsuccesful.

Thanks

depending on the motor...d16y7 or d16y8... if its y7 then you might as well get another z6.. the z6 is what you got now and its better then the y7 cause you got vtec and more hp. if its a y8 you will have to rtewire it to obd1 cause its obd2. just get another z6 and save yourself alot of headache.

it'll fit..you just have to rewire it to obd1...rewire your dizzy to obd1, and use the obd1 injectors..if its not a y8 or vtec motor you'll have to look for a non vtec ecu..po6 or some non vtec ecu..

if its the y8, then just swap everything from the current motor over and run it obd-1. to answer your question, it will fit

yep like everyone else has stated, yes it will fit, but you need to convert it to obd1 and if its the Y8 your running, get yourself a P28 ECU... thats what im currently running a Y8 in my EG, hope that helps.

yes you will need to rewire from obd2 to obd1, if your new engine is vtec it will make things alot easier
