will 200 pounds make a hugh difference in speed?
i went to HPDE yesterday wth some friends and my friend was driving a 14.5 second bmw. i have a gutted 94 HB b16 94 with 4-1 dc header, aem 3inch intake/ITR manifold straight pipe to muffler and a 200 pound passenger.
i also swapped out integra brakes front and rear adding more weight to suspesion. and my overall tire diameter is a little larger running 225/50 totyo ra1.
but i couldnt catch up to my friends bmw he was pulling slowly away. or is it becuase i had a passenger i thought my car was a low 14 car from all the stuff that ive done.

How do you know? Have you actually run it at the track and gotten time slips?
BMWs are rather good track cars. Just because two cars run equivalent times at the drag strip doesn't mean they're going to run dead even on a road course as well . . . straight line speed isn't everything.

no just from the past searches on othes setups.
the car is totally gutted no driv/passenger windows, all plastic seats/ belts air bags removed. door metal cut down. ac /pipes,heater all removed.

How much does your car weight? What trim is it?
B16 stock in a hatch are good for mid to high 14s. I dont see why you would have low 14s. Also whats your elevation.
Number 1 reason i think the BMW got you was cause of torque so he had you at the line, right? But i guess you just couldnt catch up.
To many variables to say what happened.

Passenger can make a difference, though small. Your friend may very well be a better driver than you too.

oh sorry i forgot to mention.
its a 94 civic cx. this car doesnt have anything interior wise no radio. no panels except for dash. also this was not drag racing this was going on a straight at big willow from 3-4th gear all the way to 100-110. coudnt catch him. he was about 3-4 car ahead and kept pulling so not from a stop so launching not an issue here.
ALSO this is startin in 3rd gear in vtec shifting at 8200

i have a 92si with intake, header, exhaust, clutch, fly, pressure plate, tuned.
I can barley take my sisters bfs 92 325i in a straight line, his is bone stock. its called torque get a Fat turbo.

Weight is weight. The less weight, the better. Speed wise, it will be the same. Acceleration wise, it's a different ballgame.

not that its truly the same scenario, but ive run a best of 14.8 in my hatch, when my 200 lb buddy rideswith me, thrre different times the best i could do was a 15.2, but i have a smaller motor that makes less power, so weight for me is critical.

low 14's from that setup? idk bout' that... you shifted at 8200rpms with your b16? idk bout' you, but my rev limiter is set at 8200. and my motor doesnt even make more power that high as it would if i shifted sooner.. and 3rd and 4th gear arent exactly the strongest

With all that weight reduction wht the hell would you run with a passenger? Should of just left all that other **** on the car and run w/o a passenger!

92si with what motor?
the 3.25's are not that quick.

this is my track car so i dont need all that interior stuff i dont drive it on the street
as for his car its modified, he has intake, cams/gear, header, exhaust , chip etc..
his car is pretty fast i know that becuase he is dead even with an audi s4 from stop to 3-4 th gear.
my car should be under 2000 pounds from all the stuff i took out.
no ac/no heater, no ps, all the piping etcc out no air bags, no interior panels, etc etc.
2.5 inch straight piped straight thru muffler no cat.
i think it should be running mid 14 or lower.
anyways i watching some of the other videos from that track day where he was in front of me before i got held behind by another driver and he didnt pull at all so i guess the passenger does make a difference

of course a passenger makes a difference. Find one of the 1/4 mile estimator calculators online and play around with the weight variable. see how much it changes your et's...

from reading up on this website, ive heard that a rule of thumb is 100 pounds makes .1 second difference in a quarter mile, but thats just a little estimate, but it wouldnt anything like 3-4 car lengths like you said

well it depends on how fast you are traveling. if you were going kinda slow.. .1 second would probably be less than a car length. But if you were traveling at like 100-110 mph, it could be quite possible that .1 second will equate to about 3-4 car lengths.
i'm gonna have to say that the BMW had quicker exit speeds. with less torque and an extra 200 lbs, your exit speeds probably suffered a bit.

What you say ur supposed to run, and what you run are two totally different things. My good friend has a B16A in his CRX. It only has an intake. He ran, no joke, 14.3 in it. So alot of it can be driver, hows ur launch and 60ft?
