Why you should turbo your SOHC and not do a Mini-Me
-More power and huge TQ gain
-Used turbos are easier to find than VTEC heads
-Not that much more expensive than a mini-me swap
-You can blow off at people like a ricer
-The intercooler always looks cool
-You will regret all the money you spent on your mini me that you could have spent on a turbo kit
-With a mini-me, most people re-use the head bolts so you'll have to take off the head again and put ARP's in if you want to boost
-If you want to sell the car, you take the turbo kit off and sell that. With the mini-me, the new owner might take it to the dealer and they aren't going to know what timing belt to put on it
-You'll probably forget to pull the oil jet and have to re-do it again anyway
-Your car will still be slow with a mini-me
-Half a swap does not equal a swap
-5 psi > 0 psi
Anyone else?

Bwaha, you dork!
I'm guessing he's getting a gazillion PM's regarding the Mini-Me swap and questions on how much power he has since he's turboed now.

check his sig. he's done it already. this thread was basically to give his reasons, and others, why to spend money on a turbo kit instead of mini-me.

LOL! Best part yet.
You could always just BUY a car with VTEC already
Anyways:
-turbo pulls harder than VTEC anyday

I'll probably be going that route even though I've already done the mini me swap. Gotta gather up some cash and put the arps in there.

Actually I saw another mini-me thread pop up. I wish I could delete my writeup because its such a waste of time to do it. People need to learn that turbos are a little more work and a little more money and a LOT more power and fun.

Nah don't delete it. It actually helped me learn much more about how the honda motors work and what part does what job when I did my mini me.

It's your call boss.
But many people lean toward N/A rather than FI. I don't know why, they just do. I was going N/A, then I met a man who had turbo and it changed my life...forever.

I'm not gonna delete it...obviously
Maybe i'll put a disclaimer up at the top: If you want a shitty power to money ratio...then keep reading.

Re: (my head a plode)
Well I tried to not cut too many corners, even tho I did...so
Greddy Turbo and Manifold - $350
Downpipe - $50
Uberdata ECU w/ basemap - $150
450cc Injectors - $80
Pipes - $100
Home depot Couplers - $30
Oil Lines - $130
Intercooler - $150
BOV - $50
Misc Crap - $100
About $1200 when all said and done...do HF manifold with junkyard turbo, FMU and you take like $300 off that

Exactly, and you have to sell both your ***** and your wife for a k20, so don't even say that.
You can't say a b series is worth it either cause I could turbo 3 d series (including the cost of the 3 motors) for the cost of buying and turboing a b series. Plus d's are EVERWHERE!

Re: (SOHC4life 96)
"worth it" is in the eye of the beholder.
$ / performance is a crappy measure IMHO.
Besides, if $ / performance was that important, why are you still driving Hondas? lol

Yes...just make sure its conservative. The greddy kit comes stock with a "blue box" which is like a basemap...just make sure you have the fuel to go with the boost and you'll be fine. Fine-tuning it is really only to squeeze extra power out of it.
