i have a 94 civic EX and about 5 months back it over heated and blew a head gasket i have replaced it since and i am trying to get it passed since i orginally bought it in georgia and now live in texas.
-the CO2 level and HC levels are too high like 8x the amount everything else passed
i have done the following to help it pass (but still it fails)

i also put the high octane gas and booster in it

yes its 100% stock

Results are : for high speed emissions
HC(PPM)-167(standard)- 202(my cars results)--Fail
CO%- 0.94- (standard)- 7.03( my cars results)-- Fail
CO2 % 10.7 (my Cars reading)
o2 % 1.7 ( my car)
NOx(ppm) - 1240 (standard) - 529 (My cars results) -- PASS

The results are about the same for low speed results also.

Check for an exhaust leak near the O2 sensor.

Also check the ignition timing.

Does the engine take a long time to warm up?

im with ron on that one1 check timing, and take out ur injectors if know how.., and try to clean em up a lil for u to have that much raw unburnt fuel and burnt fuel coming out the tailpipe... something either has to be leaking or u may have alot of blow by from the rings and u might have to replace em... and u said the motor overheated? so did u do the work or was it takin to the shop? either would u happen to know if they honed ur cylinders? if so how big cuz if they didnt do em right they may have gone to far to where u have to go with a bigger piston with bigger rings (worst case scenario) if this is what the problem is

what rings are you talking about that " i might have to replace them" are they piston rings ?

and i replaced the head gasket myself- i did nothing to the cylenders the head wasnt split or anything all i did was change the water pump and replace the head gasket

what does honed mean ?

and Ron it takes about the normal time to warm up maybe a little slower

well since u overheated the heated the engine its a possibility that u proly fried ur rings as well... and to fix tht depending on the severity of the damage u have to hone (deglaze- in a 'x' pattern scratch the cylinder walls with a a honing tool, there are 3 different types most common one is the drill bit attachment u can get from really any hardware store... i got mine from sears for bout 80 bucks and it works real good... this isnt the exact one i got but its practically the same one.... oh and i kinda forgot but yea the cylinder rings my bad

i will do the honing thing as a last resort bc its s ton of work to get the head off so im going to try messing with the ignition timing

i just re ajusted the exaust valves to 0.007 in. and the intake valves to 0.009 and re set the computer. im going to check the lower port on the butterfly valve for suction

would a faulty fuel pump have anything to do with it ? like pumping too much gas ?

1/4 tank of gas plus 2 gallons of methanol will blow zeros. Try adjusting the distributor to as far "retarded" as possible as well. My buddy did that and it dropped the numbers just low enough to pass.

Yeah, you're running rich as hell and still have oxygen in the exhaust.... I'm pretty sure you have an exhaust leak. The only other cause would be a really bad misfiring problem, but you'd definitely notice that.

is the same as pure ethenol ? bc i bought a whole gallon of it from home depot and plan to mix it with 1/4 tank and did your friend have high hc levels ?

my exaust is fine i think would a dirty IACV cause a high hc reading ?

Ethanol and retarded timing won't help if you're in closed-loop operation for the test and have an exhaust leak.

Like I said, the only things I can think of that would cause you to run rich and still have oxygen in the exhaust are an exhaust leak or a misfiring issue.

Does your car run rough, especially at idle?

The O2 levels in your exhaust contradict your conclusion^.

No, the ECU would quickly correct the fuel trim for this increased air intake.

heres the weird thing it will run fine at idle with the AC on and head lights on but as soon as i turn them off it misses alot and runs rough

Find and repair the highly probable exhaust leak. This could be a bad or loose header or exhaust gasket or a crack or hole in the header or exhaust pipe.

If you're absolutely sure the exhaust is fine, test your ignition coil resistance.

i took it in and it passed!

i retarded the dristiubuter cap
ajusted all of the valves to .009 in
and mixed half a tank of gas with 2 gal of denatured alcohol
i now have two texas licences plates and its good untill feb 2012!!
