H22 swaps are cheaper and an H22 comes with more HP and Torque.

Probably because of the amount of err...customization that goes along with it, like mount kits, etc. Probably people are intimidated by all this. Also, I'm guessing that PS and AC will have to go. Something I'm not willing to give up. One more thing, an H22A Civic lowered more than 1.5" will scrape and dent a header.

I'd like one though.

Well the A/C and power steering can be retained. We offer a A/C bracket that will allow you to run it. I believe there is alot of misinformation about H22as. They are great swaps and they are affordable. Its always funny to me that the people that don't have H22a always seem to know so much about them and not recommend them. I rarely see people with H22a swaps complain.

i rarely see h22 civics at autox though too..

it all depends on what u r gonna do..

if i was into drag only..then by all means..why not got h22, but id rather have a lighter block up front then having to bother with stiffer than average spring rates and the like. but im into autox not drag, so like i said before, what works for others doesnt work for everything.

my friend has a h22 EG, car is a f*ckin ripper!!!..nuff said. hes into drag so

edit: BTW i think Newman had decent results with the h22 Eg from what i read on h-t.

H22 swaps are bad ***. I was close to going with one but I chose not to. Why?

- B series is a more straight forward swap. Well documented.
- Stronger aftermarket for B series
- A lot of interchangeable parts amongst the b engines
- Traction issues

-Rod

That was very well sumed up right there. Only other reason I can think of is the wiring issues. I know a guy who has had all sorts of troubles with his H22. Its running good now and he is quick.

Very good topic and most people choose to be ignorant on the subject. Before anything I will list the cons, as there are a few, if you even consider them cons...

1. Axles. Now, you can use 91 Integra axles, but they are pretty squished in there and you'll probably end up breaking a few. Or, you can opt for some custom ones good for 500+ ponies, but it'll set you back 500 bucks.

2. Weight. Now come on, there's not that much weight.

3. Wiring. It's not hard. My bros' running a chipped P28 and it's working out great.

4. Mounts. Yeah it's not a direct bolt in, but who cares. Pay a little more for mounts, but you also got torque to fall in love with. And if you're going to race, you'll end up getting better mounts as well. And mounts that are available usually have a lifetime warranty-enough said.

5. The shifter assembly. Now this is the ONLY thing I HATE about the swap. Rod shifter assemblies are the greatest. I just don't seem to get along good with the cable type.

Now, there's not that many bad things about the swap. True, you may think, "Man, I'll have CRAZY understeer". Build your suspension according to the engine and you'll be just as good as a B18 swap. My brother has a built H22 in his hatch for boost- not boosted yet. got Weisco 8.8 to 1 slugs and all. Even with such LOW compression, I utterly SPANKED my friend with his B16 while I had 2 people in my car. Imagine it with 15 pounds for a 125 shot.

They are cheap to come buy, but you will need to do some modification. Don't plan on dropping a B or D series back in as you will need to weld in some of the H22 mounts. A B series swap is a lazy man's swap and most won't admit it. It's easy. An H22 done right with the correct parts, will have GREAT results. Like someone said before, it depends on the driving. They'll be fine for auto crossing, just know your car. It's all about driver in auto-x. I've seen some stock 91 Soob sedans beat out Type R's.

bigger means harder to fit in the motor bay..and the extra power is off set with about 300 extra lbs.<< this is a guess

Guessed wrong.....70 more lbs than a Bseries......its like a 6 year old sitting on your hood, with aftermarket suspension, you will never know

thats preference, andy hope who races TCRA road racing, went from a d16a6 to a b16a in his track crx and when i talked to him, he said he was feelin the change in weight spread and its def noticeable,

its all in how much it bothers you, or if you even care. to some people it matters more then others

thats my reason why i want to go with B series, plus incase if anything happens with the engine i could easily swap back down without changing the mounts

lol
i heard that the h22 can't handle continuous high rpm's... for instance lapping at a track, and there seems to be so much aftermarket supprt for the b series, i doubt you couldnt make a boosted gsr swap perform as well as a boosted h22.

doesnt the B and D block tilt foward and the H block tilt back in their native cars? I thought that's what made the additional 70 lbs such a big deal, as the CG wasn't located in the optimal locations anymore.

W3rd..I've noticed that as well..Lots of happy H22 owners and lots of ppl that are oh-so-clever about it being too heavy at the front and so on..
IMO an h22 swap is kick ***
Unfortunately very illegal here so I can't do it

The broken axle thing is from either cheap axles components or bad mount kits that don't position the motor properly and causes the axles to bind. We never have any axles problems. Alot of people do seem to have that problem.
