Default Why does a d15b motor idle so high.

Just what the title says. I know quite a few people that have jdm d15b motors. When they start the motor when its cold it idles at 3k to 4k. I know a guy whose motor idles at 5k when he starts the car. After 5 minutes it warms up and idles at 1k where it should be around. Any ideas?

I was once told that was a block warming process that honda programed into the ecu. I was also told that if you start the car in gear it wont do that. Dont know if its true or not, give it a try.

Dunno if it's that good because the cars don't haul as much *** as my stock z6 motor.

All cares do that, but at different RPMs. Its so the car can warm up, once its up to the right temp to run properly it should go down to 700-900 RPM. If it doesnt then you have a problem.

honda's cold start is 2,000rpm, 3, 4 or even 5 *WOW* is WAY to high. you have vac leaks galore if it's that high.

comparing with b16a's, ecu seems to matter because me and a friend switched our b16a ecu (p30) and somehow my cold start on my ecu was 2200 while with his ecu it was at 1700. could be possible, but not sure.

maybe switch ecu with someone's d15b ecu?

i was told with the compression rate that to compress the cold air at an exceled rate takes a higher rpm, if the motor did not run idle high it would not be able to run at all, cold air will do that
