Why doea my tranny scratch bad above 4000 rpm?
Well i was driving today and when i went to shift to second gear it made a loud scratch. none of the other gears do it except 2nd gear what could this be?i'd rathet keep my tranny that gettin a new one. how much woul it cost to fix it? its a jdm type r lsd tranny. thank yall in advance

$150 to remove the transmission, disassemble the transmission, reassemble it and put it back in the car? Maybe if I was getting paid under the table.

I'm also almost certain it's your synchros. mfactory sells a carbon coated set that's supposed to be more durable than stock.
IMO there's no shop I've ever heard of that will pull a transmission, open it, swap synchros, and put it all back together for $150. I'm thinking more like $500.
If you pull the tranny yourself and bring it in to them, THEN they might charge you $150.

Autozone has a rebuild kit, its been a few years but i think i paid 250 for it. I did the work my self and have put 20,000 or it with no problems
