i have a 95cx hatch with a d15b jspec motor and i just swapped the stock cx intake manifold for a d16y8 intake manifold and now everyonce in a while as in not all the time white smoke comes out the back real bad? what could this be from oil? coolant? dont know!! help please

possibly blown head gasket, maybe oil on your plugs. is the car running right or does it feel like its lagging?

i had same problem its your HG, and i also had bad valve seals i had oil burn on start ups, and lots of white smoke when i got on it, its your head gasket.

but it just started doin this and i recently did a intake manifold swap! and it doesnt really feel like its laggin because i just did my engine swap a couple of months ago and the vtec isnt hooked up yet but people tell me it should be fastter then it is!? any way i could check for sure to c what it is

depends if its B or D. My B cometic Head gasket with arp heads studs costed me about 200 so its about 100 something for a B headgasket I'd figure cheaper for a D because its not a triple layer metal like B's.

B series I believe you can get for 65 bucks or something, i havea feeling d series would be the same, maybe a few bucks less. but are you going to do it urself? cus labor to remove the head and to the headgasket woudln't be so cheap

sure i would love to do it myself but i dont know how so any advice would be good also is there anyway to test it for sure to make sure that that is whats wrong with it?

well u can melt a piston. thats what happened with me, i had a built b20 with high compression and i melted 2 pistons cus of a headgasket, same with my buddy as well. BUT we were running super high compression with race gas etc etc so im not sure how bad of an effect it can have for you. as far as instructions on how to do it, idk man, kinda something you watch then learn. obviosuly people here have just dove right in, but how mechanically inclined are you? you have to remove the head. guessing 4-6 hour job by a professional. at say 60 bucks a piece, anywhere from $240 to $360 plus headgasket. idk, no buddies that could help you out either? Deff handy to have a buddy around if your doing it by yourself cus then there are 2 people to catch ur mistakes maybe someone here will have a link for ya on how to remove head ACTUALLY, i think i have a website at home. im at work, i can try and get the link for ya when i get home in 6 hours

Reason for melting your pistons is because of the high compression litterally. No it wont hurt but you'll lose coolant and you need to watch it all the time. Its not gonna Blow up your engine i rode on mine for like 2 monthes straight even beating on it it was ok but in consideration id get it fixed the reason its gonna cost you a bit it because of head removal either oem head studs or ARP. Goto CivicRoss in the sponsered forum and he'll hook you up with a arp and cometics head gasket deal.

He doesn't need headstuds. Oem headbolts are fine and cheaper. But if he does plan to remove the head again to work on the motor or to boost it the headstuds will be a worthwhile investment.

Actually when i had my old 91 si w/ jdm single zc i blew the head gasket. I had coolant in my head. I ended up selling the car to a friend and he said that the head got warped from the bad head gasket. he had to get it milled.
