I just got done replying to almost the same question 30 minutes ago
Okay, H22's are dumb in civics.
1. You'll never be able to make the car handle right.
2. They don't go that fast.
3. Sure it's a lot of HP, but so is a b18c5, or a b16a with ctr internals.
4. It's not very OE honda, meaning if Honda never intended it, there has to be a reason why.
5. I've seen them in civics running in the 14's. I imagine they could do better, but i've never been impressed.
6. Can you comprehend the amount of parts you'll have to get from the Lude to make it work right, all the custom mounts? Very expensive, and is most likely to just f-up your car.

..i wouldn't be hating on it half as much as you guys do.. if you want to do an h22a in a civic.. you have to do it right.. its not your standard rip and plop swap.. you upgrade the axles, suspension, braking, motor mounts (obviously) you'll need shift linkage.. its not a cheap swap.. but when you get a motor that starts out a 200hp.. and is capable of being a monster.. tis a bit more appealing then a tuned to **** 1.8 litre type r engine.. that you can't even turbo without redoing all the work honda did to make it that.. so if your thinking about h22a.. expect to spend a whole lot of money making it worth while..

Ok, I was actually going to do this swap. I knew the shop would do a perfect job on it because they've done so many. The only thing that kinda worried me was the fact that it's a custom job. What if something goes wrong? At least with a b series motor...it's the most well documented swap. Tons of info on it. Sure...if I lived 5 mins away from ImportBuilders...then I wouldn't worry...but I live about 40 mins away...and frequently drive 400 miles up to the bay area.

Here's when I'd recommend the H22: 1) If ur shop knows what they're doing...cuz the axles are very important and 2) If you're not going to modify the motor.

Upgrade the suspension??? Well....wouldn't u upgrade the suspension even if you got a b series motor? I'm getting a gsr motor and probably a set of GCs with Integ rates and Koni Yellows. Most people I've talked to with h22 swaps tell me the understeer problem is not that big of a problem.

Well good luck on ur decision.

How is that h22 swap coming along in the sedan?

Go with what your heart desires... I did....Well.. still am... just no time to work on it.. I have an 89 H/B and I'm dropping an H22 into it. It's alot of custom work, but I'm sure it'll be worth it... I took some pics along the way and posted it up...

its a fun car, not other engine will give you the kinds of torque
this engine gives out.

and forreal honda didn't intend having this engine in a civic

I always see this question and ask myself why???? I mean i had a choice when i swapped out my motor and i decided to go with a B18C5. Like the other guy said honda did not intend for a civic to have this motor. I burn HB with a H22 in it without losing the handling so dont go with it just go for a B-series Just my opinion
