Default Where can I find a D16Y8?

I want to get a cheap D16Y8. I don't need a tranny, ecu, axles. Just the motor, complete with heads. Where in the hell can I find this? I have been looking and nowhere seems to have this engine.

Yea, well I have been checking junkyards and none of them have it. I didn't think everywhere would not have them in stock because the D series isn't really a desireable engine. Well, maybe I will have to buy one in pieces.

FYI it took me three months to find a y8 head. YOu really want the Si tranny though. Doing a SOHC VTEC swap without the tranny is a waste. Cool thing is that the tranny will bolt directly in without changing axles etc.

Yea, I kind of doubt that I will actually hunt down a d16y8 at this point. It seems like a bigger pain in the *** than it should be. I would rather just spend all of that time saving money to acquire two cam shafts.

I think they made/sold more SOHC's than DOHC cause they are less expensive to make and are more affordable.

Having said that, I am having trouble finding one too. Look at my sig

First place I'd go is a Honda-specific junk yard.

Hmotorsonline would be a good place to look too.

having problems finding d16y8s? dude these things are ultra common and were in del sol si's, civic ex coupes, civic ex sedans.

car-part.com and the classifieds forum is your friend. buy d-series parts on honda-tech (a b-series site) and sell parts on d-series.org/ebay.

honda-tech hates the d-series.
