When does YOUR Vtec kick in????
I think its because of these 2 chips that are installed in my ECU but my fuking Vtec kicks in at 5.9!! WTF!? When does a B16 usually kick vtec!? I mean STOCK everythign! Is there anyway beside a Vtec controller where I can adjust my Vtec to hit at 4.5?!?

do you have a dyno to back that up?
no?
look kiddies, changing vtec may be fun and sound different and a cool "magazine mod" but its a waste of time and money UNLESS YOU TUNE IT ON A DYNO.
each car is different and can have a different engagment point and the only wany to know for sure is to do it on a dyno. period.

heres the thing
you dont know. nobody knows unless you have proof. its not like honda picked a random number and said "lets put vtec here" they spent a long time developing it and to say that anyone knows better on a modified car is flat out wrong.
you canot say if its better or WORSE than stock without a dyno. PERIOD.

Re: (spoonspeed)
expletive that I hate how mine engages at 5000. I got an OBD2 P72 ECU, I'm not sure if it;s chipped or not because I bought the car with it. It bugs the **** out of me becuase when I'm on the freeway it seems like I'm always in mAD tYt3 VTAK YO! It's a real killer on my gas too.

Yeah I agree. Mine engages at 4900 but its more of a sound. I really don't feel it pull any harder until 6000, so I would much rather it "hit" between 5500-6000.

You don't need a chipped ecu for vtec to engage at 4400 in an integra. That is where vtec engages with a stock ecu.

That's probably if you are using their cams and valvatrain.

i personally like vtec to engage at higher rpms, feels better, JDM u should build up your head a little get some nice springs and retainers, i got that and valves with a valve job,...about $650 with machine shop and everything. but with that you can rip the sh*t out of it, take it to like 9,500-10,000 all day and you'll be alright and with your 16 tranny u'll be on vtec everytime u shift even opening up at 6, leave it their bro

stock B16 ECU engages VTEC at:
JDM
5625 @ WOT
5875 @ part throttle
EDM/USDM
5375 @ WOT
5875 @ part throttle
once chipped all bets are off because it's completely adjustable.
Also note that VTEC should transition seamlessly and shouldn't "hit" as others have said.
Adjusting your VTEC engagement point will do nothing but loose power for you unless you tune the fuel and ignition maps to match the VTEC point. (sort of like the tail wagging to dog doing that though)

Re: (bsixteen)
So my JDM B16A First gen kicks in at 5.9 with a chipped ECU. Does that sound good? I redline at 8.5. I don't see how only 2.6 rpm of Vtec can do anyone any good. Someone please clear that up for me. THANKS!

no offense man but im not going into camshaft theory and the purpose of vtec for a question like that.
just know honda knows more than you do
