Default whats up:-\ (revs go up and down)

hello everybody

this is the 3rd time i'm asking about my problam..... lest give it a shot...

somtimes when my car is cold and i start driving it, the engine revs itself few times to 2000 rpm and goes back to 1000.
is it the iacv ?

and another question:
do i need to change the o-ring of the iacv after i'll clean it?

best regards moshik galimidi

did you change the coolant recently? air getting into the coolant system will cause your idle to do that.

well mine does that too, but my check engine light wasn't on. so i ran the self diagnostic on my 94 and it showed me that it was my IACV. i still haven't fixed it but i have heard of people taking it out and spraying the screen with carb/break cleaner.

My car does it the stock ECU ROM, but if I run any aftermarket ROM's it does not do this, my IACV was cleaned 1k miles ago. I am not sure why this happens, but I'm having the same issue.

My car does this too...93 EJ1 w/b16a in it....never had a prob when my z6 was in there, but after the swap my idle lopes after the car has been driven and put into park, and if I take my foot off the accelerator while driving I can feel it loping up and down.

I too was told this could be an IACV issue so I pulled it off and cleaned it, but no luck, and I'm not throwing a code for it. I'm throwing a knock sensor code, but that's b/c I have yet to wire in my knock sensor and I don't think that would be the cause of the loping but someone correct me if I'm wrong....

Oh yeah, bump for a resolution...

sounds like you have a vacuum leak. spray some starting fluid- very sparingly- around your manifold and see if the engine revs up. if it does then your leak is were you sprayed the fluid at. just dont hose the manifold down and block off your brake booster line.

that could be a number of things. My ecu with a rom did that in my old civic when it was cold to heat it up faster. Also when my throttle positioning sensor went bad, it made the rpms jump up and down from about 1500-2500. When i replaced that it seemed fine.

pull off the idle air thermo valve, it's under the throttle body. It's got 3 10mm screws holding it on (I think) and you unscrew the plate on the back, and screw the white plunger back in as far as it will go. You'll need to get fancy with 2 screwdrivers or something, but it's not hard. Couple searches for IATV will help you out.

The tp sensor on top of you intake manifold.....well its on top of the intake manifold on a b18b, but it should be somwhere close around there if not on the intake manifold. Get a new one, or check and make sure its not bad....My car reved up in down after doing an engine swap and i changed the tp sensor. And it no longer does it. It could also be a vacume leak cuz thats what i first thought, but i would check your tp sensor first.

I'm not talking about a sensor, no electricity flows to the FITV

THIS IS THE CORRECT ANSWER TO THE PROBLEM!!!

I just finished fixing this on my car literally ten minutes ago. Boom. No more problem.
