whats so good about eg hatch
#3
Because it's so fast stock. They call it the 1.5L v8 killer.
Seriously though, besides people liking the way the little EGg looks, with some money poured into it, it can handle well and be made fast due to being light weight.

Exactly... I can't say anything about the design, because I love the looks of my EK. But every generation of civics gets bigger, heavier, and a bit more squishy. EFs dominate in the SCCA because of the weight difference, but they're tough to find unmolested. EG hatches can still be found; swap in a nice, newer, more powerful motor, and you've got a great DD / track *****.

Re: (EX_AutoXer)
I personally got my eg b/c my area is dominated by Muscle-cars.
Everywhere I go, I get underestimated. Love it. Nothing better than giving a v8 a run in something that resembles an egg.

It's our generation's Nova: small, light, stylish and most bigger car's guts fit on it (Chevelle, Camaro, Corvette, etc.) without heavy modification.
That's why.

Re: (racing_beat)
the eg civic have the best front end look of all civics(my opinion). but the hatches are light, very light. And one day when i get my turbo i will be able to beat a v8 mustang, and the person who owns it will have paid 8 times as much as i have.

true that.
i like EGs just because, in my eyes at least, they're classics. they're timeless. same with the EFs. i guess i'm just not into new school stuff.

You can buy a stock 5.0L Mustang for $2000. Add $1000 in mods and it'll be deep in the 13's if not better. So no, you won't outrun a V8 Stang AND pay 1/8th the price. You will have put way more money and effort into a front-drive shitbox just like the rest of us, and for that you'll be able to embarass idiots who drive stock GTs and think their **** don't stink.

Because there is so much aftermarket support for it. You can buy anything from turbo kits to cams to whatever.
And they are insanly quick with 350hp.

i really dont know why ppl still looking for v8 kills now on this days with turbo+vtec u should be looking for a v12 or something more challenging

Re: (ef_you)
Before I bought my EG hatch, I drove a '90 CRX Si. The thing that appealed to me most was the ease of modification for the newer hatch.
For example, here are the figures...
-The 5g hatch weighs a little bit less than my CRX did (by about 40-80 lbs)
-It has OBD-1.
-Engine swaps/aftermarket support is HUGE, bigger than anything else out there.
-I like how they look.
-More room in the engine bay than my CRX.
-It has 4 seats, yet it's still extremely compact.
-Track handling should be about the same as my CRX w/similar mods
That's about it. IMHO, for me it was a better option than my older EF chassis. Everyone is different though, and I can't speak for anybody else.
