To be a TRUE enthusiast, all it takes is respect. Respect what everyone else does (you don't have to like it). Also, to like an import car is to like cars in general. You must respect domestic cars as well.

Lastly, that ricer term is always in the eye of the beholder

amen to that, Maztur.
being in the automotive world.. Its like its own culture. We all have our own language and our own way of doing things. And being an enthusiast is no different then simply being human, we just have to have a love for the scene and respect for the other people who are in it. well, those who are worthy of respect. the people who cheat and rip you off can choke on my right foot as it gets crammed down there throat..

To me it's not about being an import enthusiast, it is about being an automotive enthusiast who happens to drive an import.

I think being true to the scene and maintaining respect for other peoples' creativity and style. Everyone has little bit different idea of what is cool on their car. We need less stereotyping, less jealousy, and less street racing. I admit, I find the stop light thing fun every once in a while. I myself will work on settling down and not racing on the streets, and set a good example.
