What's the deal w the a/c the thermal protector?
The a/c compressor was just replaced with an aftermarket unit after the original one took a dump. After about 3 hrs in use the a/c quit working decently and looking at the compressor I see the thermal protector (and compressor) looks exactly like in this post: https://honda-tech.com/forums/showth...rmal+protector
In searching thru here I see some people say the thermal protector isn't on most other compressors and can just be jumpered & yr good to go but isn't it there to indicate a problem? In my case it seems the plastic melted and the switch broke off it's body. Does the fact that it melted indicate a problem? The switch itself still has continuity so doesn't indicate overheat. Does it just mean this particular switch was a POS? Car is a 96 CX.
