Default What's the best suspension?

What's up? can anybody out there tell or suggest the best suspension system to install onto my 1993 civic dx 2dr coupe? I've got a SI engine swap coming in two months and was wanting to enhance my driving performance with a upgraded front/rear suspension system. All ideas are welcomed.....

yeah i wanna know too...i've been on some very bouncy and rough coil over suspensions....i would like to go coil overs for height adjustments but lowering springs seem to have a smoother ride...

IMHO, Its all individual pieces. Get the best of everything. I race a 96 Del Sol, and the parts will be pretty much the same.

If you havnt heard of Chris at Redshift, visit his site and tech page. hes build alot of WINNING race Hondas.
http://www.redshiftmotorsports...at=12

What im running and VERY happy with:
Springs - Ground Control Coilovers
Shocks - Koni all the way. Reds = cheep, Yellows = expensive, or SPSS = insanely expensive, depending on your Cash flow (I'm running Yellows)
Anything you can do to brace the car is good, so ebay strut/tie/tower bars Front and Rear, Upper and Lower.
19-21mm front swaybar
21mm (or larger if you can find one) rear swarbay
BUSHINGS!!! I cant stress the important of new poly bushings. Look for the master set, plus trailing arm bushings.

But HEY im just a noob and thats just my opinion!

If you want a suspension system that works, Koni Yellows and Ground Controls. Depending on the set of grounds that you get you may be in for a bumpy ride or a smooth one. It's pretty much what most people will tell you is the best spring/strut set up.

I personally have H&R Sport Springs. Nice ride, low enough to look good and still be totally functional on PA streets, and I've had my lip for about a week now and I have yet to scrape it on the ground. They're cheap too.

Best....is a relative term and not able to be answered.

I'll tell ya what I have. Its comfortable as stock almost, AND can corner very very well.

I got 16x7" rims with Toyo Proxes4 tires. Tires make THE most difference with suspension, period. The road noise increased with em I'll admit, but the grip in the wet is phenominal.

Got a front tower bar, that makes the car feel more planted, and lower tie braces, which make the wheels feel more stable. Rear Si sway bar seems to have affected steering, like the car pivots closer to the center. I have stock shocks and springs, but the car is now making them do their job better.

Next tires will be slightly oversized to improve ride quality.

youll find tones of info on suspension setups if you search here (not hating).

my setup is pretty decent for the money ... im running tein springs on KYB AGX. Best shocks for the money IMO. But if u say "best" ure looking in the thousands of dollars. You must have alot more money then me lol

dude what kind of setup are you looking for.

i am willing to help me out but you need to provide more info on what you want out of it and what you value. i.e. comfort, performance, type of performance, cost, etc.

In general, first object on your entire car to spend money on is your tires. So when considering suspension, always keep tire choice in mind, odds are, yhats the most engineered part on your car.

anyway the best thing you could do for your suspension is a rear sway bar. just upgrading it. if you have nothing then a 13mm integra or 99-00 si bar will make a profound difference. if you already have one getting an aftermarket one would be a good idea(i would say the itr bar, but only if you have springs that are stiff enough). they are definitely the most bang for buck item as far as suspension goes and should definitely be done before any tie rods or strut tower bars.

what is your budget anyway??
