do you have a trunk or a hatch? on my seden I use a fold up bike rack that mounts on the end of your trunk and it works great, i've hauled two bikes from pa to ocean city md with no troubles or marks on my trunk.
99 bucks at dick's sporting goods http://www.dickssportinggoods....25976
edit: the website claims it works for hatches also, something for ppl to know if they happen to see this and are interested

No prices listed, not a good sign, looking to spend about $75-$100...
No distributers in America.

Thule isn't expensive at all, IF you have a sedan.
The basic rack system is about $120. Any bike shop will carry Thule, it's a huge rack manufacturer and lots of places carry it. After you get the basic rack, you get the attachments for whatever you want to carry. There are bike carriers for $30, and then there are some for $100, depends on what you want.
EDIT: I found a thread where I was flaming some guy for not using the "short roof adapter" that you need if you have a coupe. This explains what you need/should get if you have a coupe.

Haha, this is funny. All I remember is when I bought my rack about 8 years ago, every bike store I went to recommended AGAINST not getting the short roof adapter. I think it looks funny without it.
Never said it wouldn't work, but even Thule doesn't recommend it. And yes, I did call them 8 years ago. Hell, I was 17 years old, I was broke and wanted to save $100. That's why the short roof adapter exists. I don't know of any upset Integra owners, but I know of two Civic coupe owners that had their bike racks bend over the course of 2 years. Thule did not warranty the parts.
Perhaps I should look up Thule's site. They might have changed their design since 8 years ago, but I didn't think they did. I will look now and I apologize in advance if I am mistaken.
EDIT:
I'm looking at Thule's site right now. The "Roof Mount System" sells for $179 like you said, however it only includes those two bars and the feet. Is this what you're selling?
That doesn't include the actual bike racks. Perhaps this is why I'm saying mine cost so much. My short roof after was $100, both of my bike carriers (599) were about $100-120 each. Plus, I have a fairing. So that's where I got my total from.
I apologize as I didn't know that was all you're selling. However, I do not apologize pointing out that having just those two bars will NOT be a good idea for carring bikes, or anything that length or longer.
Look at this picture:
If there was no short roof adapter (the bar going from the front to the rear), the rear feet would have to be clamped very close to the front feet. Thus, the bike rack tray would extend pretty far back without any support from underneath. The picture shows a lot more available support. Some bikes can be pretty heavy, and you're only holding them with a flimsy piece of metal.
Doing it YOUR way would result in a look like this:
See how much support there is under that rear wheel? Not much. Plus it looks tacky.
