What year is my B16a Head? Pic inside
Anyone know how to read this please help out. Trying to figure out what year is my head off a B16a.

The far left number is clearly 8/9 which indicates 1989, which would be a first-gen B16A head.
Before you put that on any block, and then into a car, you will want to have it pressure tested and possibly have the exhaust valve guides replaced by a machine shop. I'd also strongly suggest a valvejob too, with valve stem seals.
Many B engines smoke because too many people rebuild bottom ends but neglect the key essentials in the head that also contribute to burning oil such as guides and stem seals.

sticky quality quote!!! people always rebuild the bottom ends of motors and skimp on the top end. They always asume that when an engine smokes its "bad piston rings" and neglect small things that valve seals and how the valves are seated.
