Default what would you do? B-16 or B-18

Last summer I dropped a B-16 into my 92 hatch. Now I want some more torque, so a buddy of mine said he could get me a B-18 block, so I could put my head on. Now I have a full GSR motor on the way And I was wondering if I should swap the whole motor or just the bottom ends. I hear from different places and people that the B16 head is better, and then I hear that the B18 GSR head is better. Any suggestions????

i know you said b18 gsr motor. but you next time you need to start off by telling people which b18. you cant just say b18 and expect people to understand right away. there is a b18c and a b18b. just like when you say b16 you need to say if its b16a or b16b and so forth.

to sort of answer your question. if you slap on a b16 head to a b18c block then tyou have whats called a poor mans type r motor. i beleive the compression will be raised slightly but thats about it.

the poor man's type r, b18c block with b16 head, flows better than the b18c head but you loose compression (correct me if im wrong guys) if i were you i'd swap the whole b18c in , if in fact it is a b18c no b18b good luck

if you plan on reving the motor to high hell put the gsr in, the stock internals will not take high revs too long

Why are morons allowed to post?

With the proper valve springs, retainers, and maybe some rod bolts, you can rev a B16, or B18C to 9500 all day.

they dont hav ethe oil squirters in the bottom to cool the wrist pins so after so long running it hard the rod will break down. ive seen it happen too many times seems like you are the idiot

since you have both heads, try both and tell us which one is better
if you have money, i will recommend you change the piston, rod, cam, and valvetrain as well, also port the head... since you will take off the head.
then you will have a real type R engine, or better than type R engine, depends on how much money you put in

actually ur the dumbass cause the gsr b18c motor he was talking about does have oil squirters in fact all vtec motors do. i think u missread the post and thought he was using a b18b motor in fact he isnt.

from what i heard
b16 head is better for turbo because if u use it on a gsr block ull drop compression slightly. gsr head ull still have better compression so if hes doin all motor id rather have the gsr head.

I say go with the GSR you get more hp and tq stock vrs stock.... IF you put the pr3 head(b16) ontop of the b18c1 block your going to loose compression and power..... And the differance in head flow doesn't really make much of a differance...
