What are the two plugs in a D16 girdle for?

Default What are the two plugs in a D16 girdle for?



see the main section that runs along the center of the girdle? there's a plug at one end, then the slanted section between cylinder 2 and 3 has another plug.

And what's the little tin piece for underneath the block held by 2 10mm bolts?

which d16. my z6 doesnt have the tin piece. maybe removed from last owner.
oil runn off? theres the oil drain plug right below that.

I'm not an expert on this, but I'd offer a guess...

Since that's not really a serviceable area and looking at the design of the oiling system, my "guess" is that it's a side effect of the manufacturing process.

It is.

The little tin thing is an oil diverter, it just directs oil to a certain location.
