imo the longer the better,
more surface for the exhaust flow to pass through,
thus damping the sound better.
dont think it'll really hurt performance much either
you need it to fit though so go hit up your car with some tape measure

Get no size. Don't even get a MagnaFlow muffler. Get something Japanese as far as a muffler. A MagnaFlow cat' is OK. Also, don't put in a resonator. Too much exhaust restrictions. But if you need it to resonate (silence) the exhaust sounds, then go ahead.

All you exhaust piping shouldbe the same. EX: 2.5 header collector, 2.5 cat, 2.5 resnotor, 2.5 muffler, and of course 2.5 piping.

Not saying MagnaFLow products have a problem with them. Just saying who gets a Japanese car, goes JDM, gets Japanese this, Japanese that, then ends up putting APC products or a MagnaFlow muffler? It's fine if you're into that 2fast 2furious style. Otherwise, wouldn't it make more sense to go Japanese, as far as tha muffler, anyway? Don't get me wrong, MagnaFlow do make great exhaust systems. I got a CarSound cat' by MagnaFlow. And anyway, I'm not all into loud/noisy mufflers, especially from a MagnaFlow.

and theres the pointless reply of the night!
aside from that, it would be better to have a 2.5in cat along with your 2.5 inch piping. summitracing sells those cats for less than 60.
