well i just got my civic on the road 3 weeks ago, and have gotten 3 tickets and pulled over twice in one week. I put the apex i n1 on it, and have many other mods. i think it might mostly be the exhaust... the cop said i have to get rid of it, its not legal (yea im gettin rid of it lol, yea right). what do you guys have to put up with and what do you do?

Silencer is your best friend. I roll around town with my silencer as to not attract too much attention from the po po.

What's not legal about it? The sound level? Is it hanging off the car like it's about to fall off? Did your car pass emissions?

Localities have a lot of stupid effing laws designed to generate money from citations. Here in NY, it's a $100 fine for not running your front plate. You can't fight these people. You can either conform or keep shelling out cash for your "cause", which is probably what they're hoping you'll do.

i havent gotten 1 speeding ticket or ne thing, they only got my for things with my car. they just love pulling me over i guess,,, i keep the exhaust mad quite when a cop is around.

It is illigal to modifiy any exsisting exhaust system. - Or at least in WA.

I would recommend plainting the muffler black, and get a silencer.

yea, loud exhaust does you no good when you're trying not to attract the cop's attention. get a silencer, or a quieter one. you'll be fine.

I've gotten 4 speeding tickets and a reckless driving and 13 loud and excessive noise tickets so the cops just love when I come around. LOL Haven't gotten a ticket recently though

Paint your chrome exhaust can a flat black (cops love shiny things)

Buy a silencer (Keep the level of noise down)

ditto here in CA u know how CA cops are...
shiny exhuasts that protrude out from the back bumper only attract attention.

i had the same problem after i bought my 92 Si hatch. Cops kept pulling me over atleast once a day. After a while they slowed down but i still kept getting pulled over ( broke my engine and dropping in my B20 soon). I i always get out of my tickets though, as i show them my drivers license i make sure they get a glimps of my Army ID and i tell them i am carrying a registered handgun. Most of the time they tell me to have a good nite. and yeah my friend hate me for some of the things i get out of but i think i earned it.

Where do you live in NJ? Also how are you driving. Are you mashing the throttle even when cops are around? I've had my APEXi N1 catback on my 00 SI for 2.5 years, and have never been pulled over for exhaust. I have never used the silencer either. My car is bright red and I keep the N1 canister clean and shiny, and no problems yet. Do you have a cat on the car? I would just drive extra slow, low rpms when you see a cop around..

Must be your driving style. I've been driving my car with a turbo and loud exhaust for almost two months now, and I haven't had a cop even think about pulling me over. I've put on like 6k miles in that time too. Everyone asks me if I get pulled over a lot, and I say, haven't so far!
