i just got a 1994 civic hatchback. i love hondas i read all these forums i watch tributes watch my cousins race all that. I want to swap out my motor have a desent hatch u know but their 1 problem im only 16 and my dad doesnt want me to race he use to race toyotas in his time and is all on me about racing i feel like he cant trust me in my car. I have a mini swap done [he doesnt know] its a 1996 SOHC VTEC i want to race i love the honda life and all but i know i kant get him off my bak since he technically bought me da car should i disobey him and race n e ways or just wait till im older ?Or Build my little single cam without him knowing i know it might nt be da fastest bt nt da slowest ive bn able to slide in a 8 pound flywheel stage three clutch and an exaust on si rims. I wanna know what else i kan do to make my honda run nice but not be noticable advise needed

Yeah I feel you, my friends hit me up on myspace all the time, his dad bought him an ep3 so he doesnt give a **** if he gets caught drag racing or not, but me... I bought the car and still working to keep making it look how I want it to.
Im not gonna lie I have raced my friends ej1 a couple of times, but it's definately not worth it when your young, as soon as you get caught you might get your license suspended till 21, so **** that.
I cruise now, hahaha saves me gas

my hatch is clean i kant complain i have made it look clean its on si rims it has a duck bil rear gsr leather seats it looks beautiful bt i know once i get insurance and start driving around and a car revs its motor at me we runing it thats y i posted this thread to see

a d16y8 VTEC with and 8 pound aluminum flywheel a dc short shifter a stage 2 clutch and an intake lol o and advanced timing thats about it

i wouldnt call it a full blown build, but putting my car on a serious diet helped. power to weight ratio son. im runnng a Z6 dsm'd out... and ff draggin is lame, these cars were meant to grip.

soo ur car is gutted out i was thinkin bout that bt never really did it all i really did was take out all pointless stuff no air conditioning no power steering no windsheild wipers none of that bt thats nt enuf if i had a second car ill take everything out that car bt a driver seat bt its my daily driverr

no, gutting your car takes off only like 140 lb's and makes it sound like ****. i got cf hood/sunroof, no tar, p/s loop, both my seats = 1 stock seat, nice light rims, better suspension, no bumper supports; idk man i lightened it up the right way.

Instead of just thinking about drag racing why not try autocross? I've talked to quite a few parents who have been more than willing to go out on weekends with their kids to do autox. It's safe, sanctioned, and best of all doesn't require a high horsepower car. You really don't even have to do any mods.

It will help you get to know the handling characteristics of your car alot better and if your dad was in to racing back in the day it might be a chance for you two to do something together.

Just like others have said. Keep the racing off the street and on a track. You have way to much to lose.
