does it make that big of a difference? who cares when it engages unless you have a good all motor setup

soch vtec 5300rpms

oBD1 GSR 4800rpms

OBDII GSR 5200 rpms
just a fyi it is not only rpm that engages vtec.

It is:

RPM
SPEED (must be going over 19 miles an hour)
oil pressure (I think its like 55psi)

NOTE: temp can effect vtec too, when my car warms up I CANNOT hit vtec until the temp gauge gets a little more than 1/4 warm. I think this has to do with oil pressure though.

My 94 ex engages at 4800.

You can hear it, but not "feel" it. My car is a monster ........

well i almost sold it a few times for a coupe or hatch, but its mainly originality and my car only weighs like 2380 or something, not much more than a coupe or hatch. so with a little weight reduction i can be the same weight plus the v8 guys go ... ooohh i'm getting beat by a civic, no wait, its a 4 door and there's 4 people in it

Vtec kicks in anywhere above 4800 rpm. Based on certain conditions, the ECU determines when it will kick in. Usually based on the area you live in, it will be different. Even change with load and whether fluctuations.

I've seen some 900MHz V-Techs and some 2.4GHz. Never knew that they actually "kicked in".

Because you're a legend in your own mind...and you think your car and motor setup is superior to everything else. Let me let you in on a little secret...you have a 4 door Honda Civic...and you have a stock LS motor with a turbo...it is NOT superior to everything else.

never have i said that my car was fast, cool, superior or anything. i've simply shared my opinion of b series vs. d series. if someone has asked i have shared my setup and my numbers - never have i bragged or put down anyones setup. think think your making ***umptions
