What motor would u rather have? CTR or usdm ITR? going into a CIVIC
Which motor would u rather have? CTR or usdm itr, is going into a civic.. not really building it for the 1/2 , but rather for road racing or a auto-x. It would probably be hauling a civic at around 2500lbs. Will the b16b have enough to haul it around? THanks !

While the B16B would be a fun little engine, unless it's going into a hatch, it won't be drastically different than a B16A. I mean, sure there will be plenty more pull up top, but the torque isn't much different. There would be some nice exclusivity w/ the B16B, though. I suppose if you are using it for autocross and road race, the midrange will be nice, but you might want the extra torque for uphill sections on the track. Hell, I wouldn't mind having one in my 99 Si
The B18C5 would get my vote. Bigger *****. It'll move that 2500 lbs around more easily.

Why would you not want the engine with more Hp and torque? They wiegh almost the same, as about the same size...... Yet one has more power.
The B18c5 is the obvious choice here. Unless you like haviing a peakier, less powerful, smaller engine with less meat "under the curve"

Either one would be fine with me... I had a B18C5 and had plenty of fun with that... I wasnt really much into the drag racing scene and was into driving that beast like i was on a race track... I believe the B18C5 is much more fun then the B16B... But having a B16B is like one of a kind here in America... Not so much help... Sorry

I understand that oneengine has obviously more power, but don't the CTR have other advantages? better rod-stroke ratio, faster rev's ? If price was a issue would u pay 1 grand extra for a itr or get a ctr?

Sometimes its not the motor that makes the car, but the car that makes the car.
I am B16B powered, and love it. Plus, throw a rock - it'll it an ITR powered hatch.

definitely the b18c5 because if it's gonna be pulling around a 2500 lbs. car, i'd rather have the torque (even though it's a little difference) of the 1.8

ITR makes more torque, and power, how could you not want that motor??

Even Spoon recommends a bore from 1600cc to 1800cc if you had a 1.6 and you wanted to race. Only reason why you wouldn't want a B18C5 is because your limited to $$$$...

The recommend that when the engine is ready for overhaul, just to clarify.

you should just look at the specs and decide what will be best for your applacation. and see what you get for the buck

You guyz are missing the point here...he wants a motor better for road racing and autocrossing....yes...the C5 is more power....and more torque..well..not that much more..lol..remember...honda's aren't known for torque..but my choice would be the b16b...because for autocrossing u want ur revs to be faster...the b18c5 and the b16b are both beautiful engines...and are both for road racing...but the b16b is a better choice in my opinion for roadracing...simply cuz it is a faster rever...

Don't get me wrong..the b18c5 is awesome!...but everyone thinks that the b18c5 is better than the b16b....the b16b and c5 all have their positives and negatives...b16b...is a peaky motor, revs faster, and a hell of a lot better out of turns...however....the b18c5...is more "torque".. and more hp....and better for top speed however....but its not the best at road racing and autocrossing...coming out of turns it revs slower than a b16...both motors are for road racing...lol..i mean..honda's are meant to be road raced..not drag racing anyways for crying out loud...but if u were going straightline....or topspeed out of a honda..i would go b18c5...well..acutally..i would go C1 and just turbo the "F" out of it..LOL

and one more thing..if u guyz want torque...u should go buy a LS1 Z28 or a 5.0...don't look at Honda's for beginners...
