Icon2 What makes it an Si?

Came upon a 92-95 hatchback at a local junkyard that looks beat up but with all its parts. Not sure if the moonroof was an add on. How can one tell if this is an Si model? What are the tells of an Si?

Wrong section...

But, Si's for those years were equipped with d16z6's, rear disc, hatch light, power windows & locks. I believe it has a black interior as well.

That is correct and I believe it has Power steering and ABS as well Along with that the interior is striped grey/black. You can tell if it's a TRUE Si by verifying the VIN with the database. I'm unsure what the vin is, but I don't believe it's an EH2 like normal hatchbacks, or maybe it is, but I'm sure the sequential numbers after it EH2xx will verify if it is or not. I would search but that's why this forum is up. as most people say USE THE WIKI

Si stood for sport injection so basically if it has injectors on it is deemed an Si cause the other models would have carbs on them

1992-1995 Si hatchback DID NOT have power windows or door locks!!!

What set the Si apart from all other hatchback models was:

Power moonroof
Power mirrors
Rear disc brakes
Unique cloth interior
14'' steelies with pizza cutter hubcaps
Only available in 5-speed
D16Z6 VTEC 1.6L engine
Power steering - note that automatic DX models had P/S too; Si Hb was only 5-speed with P/S
Tachometer that went to 7200rpm (VX had a tach too, but redline was lower)

If anyone wants to argue we can do this. I happen to have studied quite intensely the differences bewteen 92-95 hatchback models, so bring it on.

Are you SERIOUS?!?!?!?!

Every 1988-up USDM civic was fuel injected. By your logic they must have all been Si models then?

Make a thread like the one I made for 6Gs! You're obviously better versed on it than I am (or most other people I know on here) and I know it would be greatly appreciated.

Yes. For most civics, there is a single part number for the box'o'air conditioning. It comes as a dealer install kit with all parts included.

Yes it was. For 1992-1993 no hatchbacks came with A/c from the factory itself - was a dealer add-on. If you're from the south like I am then seeing a rare non-A/C model would make you question this.

I'm not 100% sure about 94/95 models so I won't say.

For '94 (this is the only year I can confirm) my sales brochure tells me the EX sedans came with standard A/C (its a US sales brochure btw, not Canadian in case anyone was wondering, bought on ebay) all other sedans had optional dealer installed A/C that year. I can't confirm anything about coupes or hatchbacks though.

no the SI stands for SEQUENTIAL INJECTION. easiest way to find out if its an Si is if it has a power sun roof!
