Is that were the stabilizer bolts into? Maybe wrong though.

looks that way ^

appears to be a b-series tranny, and it looks like the aluminum portion that the shifter stabilizer slides over has broken off. here is a comparison pic

Well if it's a b-series transmission (thanks for not telling us what were looking at BTW), that broken piece used to be where the shift linkage slipped over and bolted onto. It was a cast-in part of the transmission clutch housing. If the remaining hole is deep enough and still threaded, you may be able to rig something up by bolting on a dowel of correct thickness. Good luck!

Here is what it's supposed to look like BTW:

well do you still have the piece that broke off or no? if so then you can have some one weld it on to the trans and it'll be just fine.. if you dont have the piece then your screwed, try taking it to a shop or somethen.

^^^ THIS, or find an aluminium bung with suitable thread and have a reputable TIG welder weld it on for you.
That's the only "non rig" thing I can think of that's clean enough.

No man. Look for metal supply places near your area.
If you can't find any, go to your local welding shop and ask the guy, he ought to know where to find one.

You can see inside? That's not good.
As you can see, that part is an odd size and probably not an average part to pick up somewhere. It's ~1" long, ~3/4" diameter and threaded inside. To weld it, the case will probably have to be taken apart to prep it and weld the inside for added strength.

Your only other options are finding another piece of the case and just replacing it. This would probably honestly be preferred.

Or, you could make a new bracket and attach it to a couple points on the case of the transmission to hook the stabilizer bar to. However, you still have to close the hole in the transmission if you can indeed see through there. JB Weld and a plug could work, but everything would the case would have to be very very clean and be very careful, and even then...you don't want it failing and losing all the lube and blowing the trans.

i have a b16 that i can take the part off of but i like the idea of just plugging it up and making a new bracket. what is that stabalizing bar for anyway? besides stabalizing could you go without it?

You have another b16 you can take the part off of..? can you just use the whole tranny from that other engine? I feel like that would be easiest.

Use the good transmission and the good clutch...? And yes you need the stabilizer bar to shift correctly.

Didn't you say you had another transmission that worked? I meant why don't you use that one?
