What happens if you crank clockwise?
Hey guys I haven't done it. But I was wondering what exactly would happen if you were to turn the crank clockwise as opposed to counter clockwise. I am just worried that it will crank backwards when trying to remove some components(i.e, flywhee). and I dont want to mess anything up

they(helms/honda) tell you not to because that is the direction to loosen the crank pulley bolt, not that you would be able to, because under most circumstances you need to blessed and carry a fence post as a breaker bar thats also why it tells you to retorque the crank bolt after a valve adjustment.

I love how people always say "just follow the manual" lol. That kind of response comes from a lack of real world knowledge. And turning the crank clockwise will not loosen the pulley bolt; if anything, it would tighten it (righty-tighty, lefty.... yeah).
The reason you aren't supposed to turn the crank clockwise is because of the timing belt. It's tension is only kept on the right side - the left side of the belt goes straight from the cam gear to the timing gear. So basically it's only important when you are setting the tension in the timing belt. Even so, when you're turning the crank and need to change the direction you're spinning it, do it as gradually and slowly as possibe.

this belongs in technical. You will get a better anwser from people who are educated to a level outside of an haynes/helmes/chiltons manual...
