What happend to my Z6? (Nitrous)
The Story:
I installed my Zex kit last night, that I got used. It had about 1-2lbs of nitrous still in the tank. I took it out and sprayed what was in the bottle, everything felt fine and fairly quick. I parked it for about 5 minutes after running for about 10 minutes
(some of the time with Nitrous) Then started it up and drove 5 miles home. The car then sat turned off for 20 minutes. I then started it up and began to drive away... then I heard some loud grinding type noise and the oil light came on, I shut the car off and pulled over. To get the car back to my house I started it back up and it still made a knocking/ grinding noise but still ran.
My Car's stats
D16Z6
1997 Ex Tranny
6 Puck ACT w/ HD PP
Short Ram Intake
2000 Ex Header
Port Matched IM
1998 LS TB
B&M FPR
Liquid Filled Pressure Gauge
Apex N1 Catback
Gutted Cat
AEM Cam Gear
Exospeed Stage 2 Cam
Unorthodox Racing Ultra Race Crank Pulley
MSD 6AL Box
MSD Blaster SS Coil
MSD Pro Cap
ZEX Dry Kit 55 Shot
My guess would be either a spun bearing, or a blown oil pump.
Any other guesses?

Re: What happend to my Z6? (Dr. Beaver)
you hook up the vacuum lines for the fpr up correctly? and also make sure non of them blew off, and check what fuel shot you had, it will be in the fitting off the zex box where it has the lines coming out to the fpr

All of the lines are on... But I really am more concerned with the motor in it's current state, and what's wrong with it. And I was running the fuel shot for the 65 nitrous shot

sounds like its time to drain the oil and look for shavings....
how many miles were on this engine? rebuilt??

The motor came out of a car with 202,000 miles, and I've put 35,000 on it. But it dynoed at 120whp/ 105 wtq with only Intake/ Exhaust, no cat, so I'm guessing it was rebuilt sometime recently, or is just that strong!

Did you retard ignition timing, run cold plugs, and premium fuel before you sprayed?

Stock timing.... 16* (Zex says that retarding isn't needed for 55shot) Have brand new NGK 6J11's (1 heat range colder) and I have always run premium for the last 3 years.
I guess I'll just cliffnote what I'm asking here..... what the hell happend with only spraying 1, 2 pounds at the most (bottle almost empty = not too strong of a shot)
and will a spun bearing throw the oil light on?

oi light means either you have no/low oil or maybe the oil pickup is clogged with metal shavings.
if you have no oil pressure, your motor will stop.
spraying with low nitrous wont break the motor, it'll just run rich if anything. unless you sprayed at too low of an RPM, not WOT.

oil light comes on when you have less than 4psi of oil pressure...this can be because you have low/no oil in the engine, clogged pickup, a bad oil pump, OR a spun/bad bearing which bleeds off all the pressure from the pump (doesn't have to be in the lower end either, can be a cam bearing as well, etc).
spraying with low nitrous CAN break a motor, very easily. Hell, you can "break" an engine by simply letting it idle.

as long as there's enough nitrous under pressure in the bottle to create a pressurized spray, there's enough nitrous to do damage. Did you check out/clean the entire system and check the solenoids before installing the system??
you could have had a clogged/non-working fuel solenoid, clogged line, clogged nozzle, etc.
or maybe...even though your engine had 202k+35k that, even though it "was" running good....all it needed was the kick in the pants 50shot from the nitrous system to lay it down to sleep....
